Severance

Severance is a weapon made in the Arsenal for the war against the Dead King. Its defining effect is a wound that ordinary sorcery and healing cannot mend. (Chapters 341, 353)

History

Forged for the war against the Dead King

The sword was created in the Arsenal by the Blessed Artificer using the Saint of Swords' severing Aspect. Hierophant named it Severance. Its purpose was to give the Grand Alliance a weapon capable of inflicting lasting harm on Neshamah. (Chapters 341, 460, 477)

Chosen bearer and final campaign

The Grand Alliance treated Severance as a strategic asset and kept it under guard. Hanno was considered as a possible wielder, but the sword was entrusted to Christophe de Pavanie, the Mirror Knight. Christophe carried it into the final struggle, where it cut the Dead King. This blow does not end Neshamah’s life permanently. (Chapters 462, 470, 472, 476)

Abilities and properties

Severance inflicts wounds that cannot be healed by sorcery or Light. Hakram's leg, cut by the blade, remains beyond restoration, demonstrating that its effect applies to injuries beyond the Dead King. The sword cuts Neshamah’s body and soul, but his bound soul reforms afterward; Severance alone does not prevent his return. (Chapters 353, 356, 476)
