Autumn Crown
The Autumn Crown is a ruling crown of the fae season of Autumn and a component of Masego's Quartered Seasons work. The Grand Alliance planned to turn it into a cursed gift for the Dead King, but the crown was ultimately remade into the Fetters. (Chapters 354, 359, 449)
History
Recovery and intended use
The Hunted Magician reveals where the crown can be found, and Masego later reports that he has located it. His theory of Quartered Seasons treats the crowns as anchors for fae beings left without their former courts. The Alliance intends to give the Autumn Crown to Neshamah: it would make him indestructible while stripping away his mastery of the dead, leaving him vulnerable to confinement in the Twilight Ways. (Chapters 354, 358–359, 422)
Reworked as the Fetters
Masego says the crown has been carved into the intended cursed gift, with its use no longer depending on his presence. Before the final battle, Akua carries the crown in an enchanted container on her back. The plan changes after the Twilight Ways are broken; the crown has been transformed into a pair of shackles called the Fetters, which are brought to Keter for the confrontation. (Chapters 449, 459, 472, 475–476)
Abilities and properties
As conceived for Quartered Seasons, the crown would grant Neshamah immortality or indestructibility at the cost of his control over the dead. The final plan instead proposes using its transformed product, the Fetters, to bind Neshamah. The crown's other powers are unknown. (Chapters 359, 475–476)
