Athany Doll

The Athany Doll is a line of doll-shaped artifacts created by Kim Sae-Jin to distribute beneficial magical effects throughout a surrounding area. Beginning as merchandise based on The Monster's mascot, it develops into a Mana-Spring substitute, a family of specialized variants, and an instrument of Korean foreign policy.

History

From mascot to recovery artifact

Sae-Jin begins with an Athany rag doll whose name derives from “Leviathan” and which already carries attributes that attract attention and produce a pleasant scent. Because such individually enchanted merchandise cannot be mass-produced cheaply, he combines two crafts instead of relying on a conventional wearable-artifact design. He inscribes a white Magic Tattoo on the doll's back using a mid-ranked Mana Crystal and a mid-grade recovery potion, then uses the Orc's Smithing Technique to add an attribute that spreads the result into the surroundings. The completed doll emits a special aroma that restores Mana and energy uniformly within sixty metres. (Chapter 47)

Testing and patent registration establish that the emitted wavelength shows effectively no weakening over ten days, leading evaluators to classify its operation as perpetual. Sae-Jin gives the first examples to the Dawn and Raven Knights Orders rather than immediately pricing an unfamiliar effect. Raven initially neglects its doll, then discovers that Knights in the same training room can work for more than three hours where two had been their former limit, and that their Mana recovery exceeds even the Order's first-class facility. Once Wizards verify that the improvement follows the doll rather than the Mana Spring, Athany becomes a protected institutional treasure and attracts purchase requests from Orders, Towers, corporations, and foreign governments. Scarcity and the second version

The limited supply turns custody of the early dolls into a contest of prestige. Sae-Jin publicly interviews potential recipients for the third example and ultimately selects the Daebaek Knights Order after comparing offers and receiving a government request; the Order plans a state-escorted transfer. As The Monster expands, Sae-Jin delegates the hundreds of global requests for Athany 2.0 to marketing chief Jo Hahn-Sung. The prototype enters testing in the Guild's new training facilities, while the finished second version is publicly demonstrated with recovery strong enough to replace a Mana Spring and combines Mana recovery with stamina recovery. Specialized variants and state regulation

Sae-Jin later creates multiple Athany versions rather than a single universal model. Three dolls with different effects make sustained twelve-hour training at The Monster feel less tiring than six hours at Dawn, and some later dolls carry an attribute that lowers the chance of Monster attacks. Their strategic value prompts the Korean government to pass the Athany Special Law. The Monster retains domestic sales rights, but the government takes control of overseas distribution, leasing dolls to friendly or diplomatically important countries and reclaiming them if relations deteriorate. Abilities and properties

• Area recovery: The original doll distributes an aroma carrying energy- and Mana-recovery effects uniformly through a sixty-metre radius. It affects people in the area rather than requiring an individual wearer, and Raven's observed increases in training duration and recovery confirm that the aura functions in practice. The source does not state whether walls, barriers, or overlapping dolls alter the original radius. (Chapters 47 and 51)
• Construction: A mid-ranked Mana Crystal and mid-grade recovery potion provide the original recovery effects through a Magic Tattoo, while Orc Smithing adds the area-spreading attribute.
