Cornlak

Cornlak is a giant wolf summoned through Kim Sae-Jin's Skill. Initially introduced as the Orc persona's pet and mount, he becomes closely attached to Kim Yu-Rin, who explicitly regards him as family rather than property.

Biography

Nosferatu alliance and the Bathory conflict

Cornlak reaches Sae-Jin and Yu-Rin while they are trapped in an isolated cavern. He follows Sae-Jin's commands, tolerates Yu-Rin's enthusiastic handling, and retrieves her sword when she takes Sae-Jin's mace, releasing it only after she returns the owner's weapon. During the escape he remains with them, and later he rescues Yu-Rin from an explosion that destroys the surrounding area. His loyalty and physical protection turn him from an unfamiliar Monster into Yu-Rin's trusted companion. (Chapters 128–130)

Yu-Rin later rides Cornlak while preparing and executing an ambush against a Three-Headed Ogre. He carries her as she draws the Boss away from the main force, then again gets her clear when the battle ends in a massive detonation. Their bond continues outside combat: Cornlak greets her with exuberant affection, serves as her pillow, and stays beside her in the hospital while obeying Sae-Jin's order to conceal recognition of his human identity. (Chapters 147–149)

By Chapter 160, Cornlak lies in The Monster's conference room as a familiar presence. When Bathory demands him, Yu-Rin insists that he is family; although Bathory takes him, Sae-Jin cancels the summoning and immediately recalls him. This latest appearance establishes both his place in the Guild household and the practical limit on outside possession: his continued presence ultimately depends on Sae-Jin's summoning Skill. Appearance and personality

Cornlak is a wolf-like Monster roughly twice the size of a fully grown man at his first bundled appearance. His fur is exceptionally soft and fluffy, and he can later appear at a much smaller size. When pleased, his eyes curve like new moons, his ears fold back, his tail sways, and he behaves more like an affectionate puppy than a threatening Monster. (Chapters 128–130)

He is loyal, expressive, and protective. Cornlak obeys mental orders even when they require enduring Yu-Rin's embraces or pretending not to recognize Sae-Jin. He also shows independent affection toward Yu-Rin, rushing her and licking her when summoned near the Orc village. (Chapters 128–130 and 147)

Traits and abilities

Cornlak is described as an avatar of the Lakcorn of India and the result of one of Sae-Jin's Skills. He can be summoned, dismissed, and recalled; he also follows mental commands. As a specially summoned creature, he does not experience ordinary hunger. The source does not name a personal Trait, explain the summoning's range or duration, or establish that Cornlak can remain manifested without Sae-Jin. (Chapters 128–129 and 160)

His physical strength is substantial. His jaw is estimated at ten tons or more, allowing him to hold Gungnir against Yu-Rin's unaided pull, and he can carry a Highest Tier Knight at combat speed. His most important endurance feat is rescuing Yu-Rin from a blast that reduces a ten-kilometer radius to ruin. The corpus does not show his attack techniques or quantify how much damage he personally withstands. (Chapters 128, 148–149)

Cornlak's size can be smaller in the hospital than in the cavern, but the mechanism is not explained. His latest use remains companionship and secure recall within the Guild, rather than an independently documented evolution or rank increase. (Chapters 149 and 160)

Relationships

• Kim Sae-Jin: Sae-Jin summons, commands, dismisses, and recalls Cornlak. Cornlak treats him as owner and follows mental orders with consistent loyalty.
• Kim Yu-Rin: Yu-Rin moves from fearing Cornlak as a Monster to riding, embracing, and defending him as family. Cornlak protects her in battle and accepts her as a trusted companion under Sae-Jin's direction.

Items

Cornlak is a living summoned companion, not an item. He briefly holds and returns Gungnir and wears riding gear when serving as Yu-Rin's mount, but the corpus assigns him no named personal possession.
