Yi Zheng is a young Great Buddha Temple disciple whose loyalty to his injured shixiong motivates his journey beyond the temple. After being drawn into Zuo Mo's group, he becomes part of Mo Cloud Sea's small dhyana tradition and later protects that community with shen power.

Biography

Ancient Battlefield and Turtle Island

Yi Zheng comes from a declining Great Buddha Temple branch. After their master disappears and Yi Qing loses his cultivation while raising him, Yi Zheng earns money by teaching lower disciples and places well enough in a temple examination to accept a dangerous mission investigating the bloody hole; his hoped-for reward is a Nine Song Dan for Yi Qing. On his first journey away from the mountain, he is injured in the ancient battlefield but steadies himself with scripture, chants to support Wei Sheng's breakthrough, and helps identify the battlefield from Yi Qing's stories. Zuo Mo later keeps him on Turtle Island because he knows sensitive secrets. There Yi Zheng assists Zong Ru's dhyana classes, admires his path, and becomes one of the island's very few dhyana xiu rather than returning to his former temple life. Shen-Power Ruins and the Great-Sect War

Years later, Yi Zheng returns to Mo Cloud Sea with the injured Yi Qing after the medicine he obtained proves ineffective. When immense cloud waves threaten them, Yi Zheng manifests golden scaled armor, a Buddha mask, and a Vajra scepter, then chants a golden sutra-character shield around them. He holds it until his body trembles and Yi Qing's Samadhi chant helps sustain the defense. Zong Ru gives Yi Qing a shen-cultivation jade scroll and directs Yi Zheng to cultivate the method as well. Because Yi Zheng is straightforward and shows his feelings too readily for deception, Yi Qing undertakes the infiltration mission while Yi Zheng remains with Zong Ru in Mo Cloud Sea. Appearance and personality

Yi Zheng is young and travels barefoot during the ancient-battlefield journey. In his later defensive scene he appears in golden scaled shen armor and a golden Buddha mask, equipment that changes his combat silhouette rather than defining his ordinary dress. (Chapters 361 and 751)

He is dutiful, modest, observant, and deeply loyal to Yi Qing. He does not expect an important sect to rescue a peripheral disciple, yet risks dangerous work for medicine and carefully shares what he knows. His emotions are easy to read, and both he and Yi Qing accept that this honesty makes him a poor infiltrator. (Chapters 344, 361, 369, and 760)

Abilities and cultivation

Yi Zheng possesses the Wisdom Dhyana Body and uses his core scripture to settle disordered ling power. He is knowledgeable about dhyana history, chants in support of other cultivators, and later helps teach Zong Ru's students. His education is useful, but he is not presented as a core Great Buddha Temple authority or a greater natural talent than Yi Qing. (Chapters 361, 369, 455, and 480)

Under Mo Cloud Sea's changed cultivation system, he gains shen power and can use a Vajra scepter with chanting to form a broad shield of golden sutra characters. The defense withstands enormous cloud waves and protects two people, but sustained use exhausts him and requires Yi Qing's assistance. His direct, expressive nature is also an operational limit in assignments requiring disguise. (Chapters 751 and 760)

Relationships

  • Yi Qing: Yi Qing is the shixiong who raised Yi Zheng after their master disappeared. Yi Zheng seeks medicine for him, brings him to Mo Cloud Sea, and protects him in the cloud waves; Yi Qing in turn supports the shield and volunteers for the mission Yi Zheng cannot perform. (Chapters 344, 751, and 760)
  • Zong Ru: Yi Zheng assists and admires Zong Ru's dhyana teaching on Turtle Island. Zong Ru later welcomes both shixiong and shidi, supplies a shen method, and keeps Yi Zheng with him. (Chapters 455, 458, 480, and 760)
  • Wei Sheng: Although injured, Yi Zheng chants while Wei Sheng confronts a breakthrough, contributing spiritual support during the ancient-battlefield crisis. (Chapters 361 and 363)
  • Zuo Mo: Zuo Mo refuses to release Yi Zheng because of the secrets he has witnessed, but also incorporates his knowledge into Turtle Island's community. Their relationship changes his affiliation without being described as personal friendship. (Chapters 449, 455, and 523)

  • Vajra scepter: Yi Zheng uses this shen weapon as the focus of his golden sutra-character shield. Its construction and later disposition are not stated. (Chapter 751)
  • Golden scaled armor and Buddha mask: These appear as part of his shen-powered defensive equipment. The text does not separately name them or establish ordinary ownership history. (Chapter 751)
