Xu Zheng Wei received a monthly tribute from Cloud Pavilion in return for assistance, but he refused to turn that arrangement into a suicidal confrontation with Zuo Mo's group. After realizing that several of the newcomers were beyond his perception, he stepped forward humbly, identified himself, and negotiated Ren Qing's release instead of joining the Ren family's escalating attack. (Chapters 442–444)

Once the Ren elders were defeated, Xu Zheng Wei concluded that supporting them would have destroyed him and decided to cultivate friendly relations with Turtle Island. He accompanied Liao Qi Chang on an apology visit, observed the island's discipline and purchasing power, and warned that the Tian family had created a dangerous adversary even though he openly admitted the limits of his own influence. Xu Zheng Wei came from an ordinary family and was its only high-level cultivator. His younger brother handled business, while Xu personally watched over a talented thirteen-year-old nephew nearing zhuji. After the Tian family was destroyed and conflict over the Sun Shen Temple ruins made Xu Ling City increasingly lethal, Xu Zheng Wei asked to join Turtle Island. Appearance and personality

Xu Zheng Wei is described as an old man with an aged face. He is prudent, humble, observant, and unusually candid about what he cannot do. His caution is grounded in realistic judgment rather than cowardice: he mediates when possible, protects his family, and avoids promises that would force him into battles he cannot win.

Abilities and cultivation

Xu Zheng Wei is a jindan cultivator with local knowledge and useful information networks, but the narrative gives him no named offensive technique.
