Tang Fei

Tang Fei is a protective city-guard commander who becomes one of Mo Cloud Sea's first-class battle generals. She begins as Tao Xing's stubborn and vigilant subordinate, then forms the Tangzi Battalion under Miao Jun's instruction. Her force develops a strong, tenacious style suited to direct charges and defensive work.

Biography

From Tao Xing's guard to Tangzi Battalion

Tang Fei first appears protecting Endless City master Tao Xing with five hundred soldiers against fifteen hundred green yaksha. She regrets failing to prevent his dangerous journey and initially regards Zuo Mo's demand for payment before helping as extortion. Yet she also keeps watching the battlefield, correctly identifies the trained yakshas' formation, warns Zuo Mo about Bu Heng, buys mounts to correct his group's mobility problem, and guides them into Great Peace City. Her hostility lessens because continued observation shows that the apparently greedy stranger is both capable and willing to protect the people traveling with him. (Chapters 562–569)

Tang Fei follows Zuo Mo on Tao Xing's recommendation and continues completing orders despite rarely showing Zuo Mo a friendly face. Zuo Mo trusts that stubborn sense of duty, so when large numbers of mo ask to join him, he makes her commander of a new Tangzi Battalion with Miao Jun as vice commander and teacher. Miao Jun selects only about eight hundred from roughly one hundred thousand applicants. The quality is high but their tactics are initially poor, making Tang Fei's first problem not individual power but turning talented recruits into a formation that will not collapse under coordinated pressure. Independent commander

Seven years of instruction and battle expand Tangzi Battalion to three thousand and raise Tang Fei from silver to gold battle-general standing. In Eastern Spring Jie, she uses shen equipment to gather power upward through the unit, leads the formation as the edge of an axe, penetrates the opposing battalion, and releases the stored force only after entering its ranks. The timed explosion disorders the enemy while her own formation remains intact for a second charge. This outcome reflects both her personal control and Miao Jun's long training: raw recruits become a force able to concentrate, release, and immediately reuse collective power. (Chapters 752–757)

Tangzi Battalion later fights twenty-one consecutive victories without sleep during the Mo Cloud Sea offensive, then joins the pursuit that breaks a forty-faction alliance. By the final Kun Lun war, Tang Fei is counted among the first-class commanders following the top battalions into Kun Lun's rear, and she participates in Gongsun Cha's strategic council. Her last suggestion—to raid a rear that Lin Qian has deliberately abandoned—is rejected, showing both her continued operational role and the limit of familiar maneuver against an opponent willing to sacrifice his own infrastructure. Appearance and personality

Tang Fei is tall, with light green hair initially tied in a simple ponytail. She wears close-fitting armor that emphasizes her figure and carries an unnamed mo weapon at her waist. Later scenes describe her long hair in the wind, a stern and determined face, calm eyes that burn with fighting spirit, and a posture that becomes granite-like immediately before battle. (Chapters 562 and 757)

She is vigilant, righteous, stubborn, proud, and strongly protective of people placed in her care. Her early dislike of Zuo Mo comes from judging his behavior against duty rather than from fear, and she becomes furious at Bie Han's casual suggestion to kill harmless followers. Training makes her more methodical without removing her tenacity. She does not readily admit defeat, but she can recognize superior force, learn from Miao Jun, and carry out orders even when she questions the reasoning behind them. Abilities and cultivation

Tang Fei is brigadier-level and a silver battle general when introduced; after years of instruction and campaigning, she becomes a gold battle general. These are two related but distinct measurements in the text: brigadier level describes her early personal power, while silver and gold describe battle-general command standing. No named personal mo physique, shen methodology, or solo technique is documented. (Chapters 563–564 and 752)

Her command style is strong, tenacious, and formation-centered. Tangzi Battalion can move from march to attack formation within ten breaths, gather the shen power of soldiers through successive command levels, concentrate it on Tang Fei, and execute a penetrating charge without losing formation. She then releases the gathered force at the tactically chosen point, disrupting enemy cohesion while preserving her own. The method is powerful head-on and the battalion is also identified as skilled in defense, but it depends on disciplined tactical integration; Tang Fei explicitly recognizes that individually strong recruits remain a rabble until training binds them together. Relationships

• Tao Xing: Tang Fei serves Tao Xing as a guard commander and calls him Grandmaster. She blames herself when his journey exposes him to danger, watches his battlefield situation closely, and reacts angrily to disrespect or attempted profiteering at his expense. His recommendation is the reason she agrees to follow Zuo Mo. (Chapters 562–569 and 657)
• Miao Jun: Miao Jun becomes Tang Fei's teacher and the vice commander of Tangzi Battalion. He accepts the lower formal position because it gives her a rare path to independent command, teaches her without reservation, and remains beside her as she analyzes Bie Han's plans. Tang Fei explicitly addresses him as Teacher. (Chapters 657–658, 752–757, and 778)
• Zuo Mo: Tang Fei initially considers Zuo Mo greedy, rude, and ignorant of local conditions. He nevertheless comes to trust her meticulous obedience and strong sense of justice, gives her the Tangzi Battalion, and later thinks of her as a model of someone who refuses to admit defeat. • Gongsun Cha and Bie Han: Gongsun Cha helps train Tang Fei and later regards her as a first-class commander who can share the military burden. Bie Han chooses Tangzi Battalion for the Hundred Energy campaign and assigns it to Eastern Spring Jie; Tang Fei trusts his battlefield ability even while finding his larger intentions dangerous and difficult to read.
