Qin Cheng held the position of eldest shixiong in Wu Kong Sword Sect and was widely liked by its established second-generation disciples. Wei Sheng's rise threatened both that seniority and Qin's expectation that he would eventually inherit leadership, although even Qin treated Wei Sheng's talent and power with outward respect. (Chapters 49, 62)

After returning from travel, Qin Cheng reprimanded Luo Li for remaining away with Hao Min, then gave him the Shapeless Sword Scripture and urged him to reconstruct the sect founder's Void Sword inheritance. By framing Wei Sheng's former service to Luo Li as a challenge to his pride, Qin encouraged Luo Li to become the direct competitor who could resist Wei's ascent. (Chapters 56–58)

Qin Cheng tested Luo Li's progress with his own Wind and Thunder Sword Scripture and black thunder sword. Luo's incomplete Void-derived technique stopped the heavy sword and swallowed the lightning follow-up, but Qin quickly recovered from his surprise, praised the achievement, and pressed Luo to seek justice for Hao Min and eventually defeat Wei Sheng. Zuo Mo's unexpected sword essence during the sect assessment shocked even the normally steady Qin Cheng, further changing the balance among the sect's disciples. The narrative later records Qin away on trips to manage affairs and compares Zuo Mo's sword insight favorably to his, but it gives no later fight, expulsion, or death for Qin himself. Appearance and personality

Qin Cheng has a square face, thick brows, and a naturally authoritative presence. He returns from travel dusty and visibly exhausted, yet retains the trust of fellow disciples. He is steady and sociable, but also politically calculating about his senior position and adept at using Luo Li's pride to oppose Wei Sheng indirectly.

Abilities and cultivation

Qin Cheng practices the Wind and Thunder Sword Scripture. With his heavy black thunder sword, his attacks sacrifice some nimbleness for weight, thunder, and a frighteningly solid presence; he can also condense the sword's lightning into a separate giant lightning blade. His cultivation and attack talent are explicitly not the sect's highest, and Luo Li's incomplete Void-derived technique can halt the weapon and sever his connection to the lightning strike.
