Shen-Power Ruins and the Great-Sect War

At sixty-eight, Mi Nan stands below only Xue Dong and Zhong De among Tian Huan's ten great battle generals. As the true Mi Family leader, he also controls a traditional materials interest hurt by Mo Cloud Sea's rise. He supports sending Li Xian Er to Xi Xuan as a hostage so the two sects can unite against Mo Cloud Sea, placing factional survival and family power above her wishes. His attention to the younger Mi Wu shows his authority within the family, but Mi Wu remains a distinct person and combatant rather than another name for Mi Nan. (Chapters 814–815, 820, 825, and 834)

After Tian Huan's chief elder dies, Mi Nan leads major families away and declares South Tian Huan orthodox, beginning a decade of civil war against Mu Shuang and Gongye Xiao Rong. Mi Nan is sixty-eight at his introduction, an age described as still within the prime of life for someone of his level.
