Guo Lu

Biography

Documented arc

Guo Lu is an experienced Wu Kong outer disciple known for his knowledge of the Art of Aged Gold. He helps Old Black investigate a strange disease in the ling grain and identifies clues in the affected plants, but exposure to the same malign influence leaves him coughing blood and bedridden for months. (Chapters 13–22)

After recovering, he meets Zuo Mo in Old Black's fields. Although his age and experience exceed Zuo Mo's, Zuo Mo's promotion makes Guo Lu the junior by sect convention. Guo Lu respectfully asks for guidance on breaking through the second level of the Art of Aged Gold and listens closely to Zuo Mo's explanation. (Chapter 40)

He later lends Zuo Mo all of his jingshi without hesitation. By the sect assessment, his cultivation has improved rapidly after his recovery and he places second. The source does not provide a further arc, a later realm, or a role beyond the outer sect. (Chapters 52, 63)

Appearance and personality

Guo Lu is described as an old farmer-like man rather than through detailed features. He is experienced, reserved, and willing to help: he stands by Old Black during the ling-grain crisis and later loans his savings to Zuo Mo. He is also humble enough to seek instruction from a much younger disciple once their formal standing changes. (Chapters 13–40, 52)

Abilities and cultivation

His strongest field is the Art of Aged Gold, which he has cultivated to the second level. During the diseased-grain investigation he has greater depth and experience with the spell than Zuo Mo, although both are then at the same formal level. He is at seventh-level lianqi when his cultivation is specified; later improvement is reported without a new exact realm. His illness and recovery should not be converted into an unstated permanent injury or breakthrough. (Chapters 13–21, 40, 63)

Relationships

Old Black is his friend and tended him through his recovery. Guo Lu begins as Zuo Mo's senior outer disciple, then addresses him as shixiong after Zuo Mo enters the inner sect; Zuo Mo gives him cultivation advice in return for the respect he earned during the grain crisis. (Chapters 13–40)

Items

No named personal weapon or talisman is identified. He receives a mud-turning earthworm from Zuo Mo for field work and lends all his available jingshi to Zuo Mo, but neither is presented as signature equipment. (Chapters 40, 52)
