Gui Feng

Gui Feng is a mysterious sword xiu of unknown origin whose ghost-based arts make him one of the Dong Fu Sword Test Conference's most difficult competitors. His limited inheritance later leads him to join Bo Feng in exchange for the Nine Ghost Nail Curse, tying his pursuit of cultivation to a secretive group searching Little Mountain Jie.

Biography

The Sword Test Conference

Gui Feng is first mentioned as the outstanding young talent of another major Dong Fu town, where the strange Little Ghost Sword and unpredictable footwork make him a feared preliminary opponent. He enters the narrative directly when he fights Su during the Sword Test Conference. His compressed sword essence wins their first exchange, and Little Ghost Ask Directions surrounds her with tireless, teleporting ghosts, but her magnetic defense forces a stalemate. Gui Feng withdraws rather than exhaust himself, showing that his obscurity is supported by tactical caution rather than reckless reliance on surprise. (Chapters 95, 119, 137–139)

He later enters Zuo Mo's Skyring Moon Chime Formation with the other leading competitors. The formation disrupts his consciousness and limits the concealment advantage of Ghost Movement, so he studies its possible exit instead of underestimating its lower-cultivation creator. When the formation's final attack begins, Gui Feng summons the Little Ghost King and layers eerie defensive light around himself. The defenses break under the larger formation, confirming both the sophistication of his summoning and its limit against an environment controlled by a formation specialist. (Chapters 144–155)

Joining Bo Feng

Gui Feng's Little Ghost Sword inheritance is incomplete, making further progress difficult even though his talent is strong. Bo Feng offers him the Nine Ghost Nail Curse, a scripture related to ghosts and yin spirits, and Gui Feng joins his group without hesitation. By the time the group observes the Black Wind Bandits attacking Desolate Wood Reef, his cultivation has deepened to the first stratum of ningmai, but he still knows less than Bo Feng about obscure ghost-path talismans and listens carefully when such knowledge is explained. After Zuo Mo destroys the bandits, Gui Feng and Chang Heng accompany Bo Feng to seek information about a secret realm. Gui Feng recognizes that Zuo Mo's formations and three Golden Armor Guards make a direct attack unwise; one guard's pressure already places him at a disadvantage, while the guards' second-stratum cultivation exceeds his own. His last scene finds him questioning what Bo Feng truly seeks while Chang Heng demands the remaining half of his own promised scripture. The source does not reveal Gui Feng's later path or fate. Appearance and personality

Gui Feng is thin and tall, with a body compared to withered firewood, twig-like hands, dark eyes, and dense yin energy. He wears black cloth that reflects no light. After his cultivation advances, his eyes are eerily green and his voice is rough or raspy; when he drives his ghost arts deeply, his face becomes corpse-white and apparently lifeless. He is quiet, wary, and analytical. Gui Feng rarely wastes words, does not confuse cultivation rank with guaranteed victory, and retreats when an opponent's technique turns unfavorable. He is confident in his own ghost methods but recognizes missing knowledge and listens when Bo Feng can supply it. (Chapters 137–146, 184–195)

Abilities and cultivation

Gui Feng practices Little Ghost Sword, compressing cold sword essence at the tip of a white bone sword for focused penetration. Ghost Movement lets him appear and disappear over short distances, leave strings of afterimages, and approach the speed of a flying sword. Little Ghost Ask Directions releases numerous black ghosts that share this movement, while the Little Ghost King can erect layered curtains and a rotating belt of eerie protective light. By Chapter 195 he is a first-stratum ningmai cultivator learning Nine Ghost Nail Curse. His concealment is less effective inside a formation that disrupts consciousness and controls position, magnetic sword arts can threaten his connection to his weapon, and a second-stratum Golden Armor Guard can overpower his pressure. The source names Nine Ghost Nail Curse as a method in which he has confidence but does not show him completing a full attack with it. (Chapters 139, 146–155, 184–195)

Relationships

Bo Feng

Bo Feng recruits Gui Feng by giving him the Nine Ghost Nail Curse, solving the immediate dead end of an incomplete inheritance. Gui Feng follows his search for a secret realm and accepts Bo Feng's direction, but he does not surrender his skepticism; his final question asks what Bo Feng is really seeking. Their relationship is an exchange of cultivation opportunity for service, with its deeper terms left unrevealed. (Chapters 184–196, 243)

Chang Heng

Chang Heng is Gui Feng's powerful peer in Bo Feng's group. Gui Feng suspects Chang Heng was recruited through a similar promise of missing scripture, measures their growth against each other, and avoids unnecessary conflict with him. They cooperate operationally but are not described as close friends. (Chapters 151, 184–195, 243)

Su and Zuo Mo

Su is Gui Feng's principal Sword Test opponent and forces him into a stalemate through magnetic sword arts. Zuo Mo is less a personal rival than a problem Gui Feng studies: Gui Feng respects his formations, survives their final attack, and later concludes that Desolate Wood Reef's defenses make aggression imprudent.
