Gu Ming Gong, known as Seal Immortal Gu, is a ranked Cloud Sea Jie jindan expert famed for sealing, formations, and forging. Hired to attack Turtle Island, he loses his defining Five Element Fog Shield and is captured by Zuo Mo. Soul Setting Divine Light binds him into service, where access to rare materials turns the frightened prisoner into a productive teacher, researcher, and transportation specialist.

Biography

Ancient Battlefield and Turtle Island

Cloud Sea Jie merchants recruit Gu Ming Gong, then ranked fifty-sixth among the jie's experts, to join Ning Yi and Yuan Xin against Turtle Island. His Five Element Fog Shield traps Zuo Mo with cycling elemental transformations, but the black gold seal soldier seizes it and Zuo Mo defeats and captures the disarmed seal xiu. Zuo Mo rejects killing him for knowledge and instead places a Soul Setting Divine Light jinzhi in him. Gu Ming Gong teaches Golden Crow Camp, becomes absorbed in its unfamiliar mo matrices, identifies valuable insect materials, guides transportation routes during the counterattack on the invading mo, and eventually solves the problem of engraving transportation formations inside sun seeds. His work remains coerced, but it is also sustained by genuine fascination with the materials and methods available to him. Great Peace City and Mo Cloud Sea

Gu Ming Gong does not receive a new active role in the later Great Peace City or great-sect campaigns. The sole later reference recalls that Zuo Mo's Soul Setting Divine Light had been used to place the jinzhi on him; it does not show Gu Ming Gong present, release him from restraint, or report his death. His last direct action remains supplying transportation seals for Zuo Mo's travel after completing the sun-seed formation work. The later fate, location, and formal status of this living captive specialist are therefore unstated by the supplied corpus. (Chapters 524 and 647)

Appearance and personality

The corpus does not give Gu Ming Gong a stable description of height, build, clothing, hair, or facial features. He is old enough to call himself “this old man” and had enjoyed three decades of luxury after his forging and seal-making skills matured. Under captivity he is instead described through changing condition: pale with terror, red-faced with embarrassment in class, and later exhausted beyond recognition after working without rest on the sun seeds. Gu Ming Gong is proud of his craft, clever about danger, materially knowledgeable, and capable of intense professional curiosity. Before defeat he is condescending and confident in his shield; afterward he understands that survival depends on remaining useful. His obedience is not free loyalty: fear of the jinzhi and Zuo Mo's power shapes his choices. Yet his fascination is authentic enough that he seeks out unfamiliar formations, becomes addicted to studying mo matrices, and protests the proposed use of a priceless sun seed on technical rather than political grounds. Abilities and cultivation

Gu Ming Gong is a jindan seal xiu, a famous forging and sealing grandmaster, and an expert in formations. His Five Element Fog Shield cycles the five elements, supports numerous formation transformations, and is described by Zuo Mo as more powerful than any talisman he had previously faced. Gu Ming Gong also makes Thousand Bird Seals for reconnaissance, transportation seals for escape and travel, and hidden transportation formations; he knows how to make fifth-grade Black Wave Leaf Armor and projects a sixth-grade armor from an insect queen. His research skill is as important as his finished products. He teaches Golden Crow Camp, contributes to deconstructing mo matrices, recognizes rare materials, infers a metal mine from insect behavior, and eventually devises a way to engrave a transportation formation in a sun seed despite its domineering shen power consuming ordinary ling power. His limits are demonstrated in combat and captivity: once the Five Element Fog Shield is taken, Zuo Mo's speed prevents him from gaining the breaths needed to activate his escape seal, and Soul Setting Divine Light restrains him despite his higher cultivation and formation knowledge.   • Zuo Mo: Gu Ming Gong begins as Zuo Mo's hired enemy, is personally defeated by him, and becomes his restrained captive. Zuo Mo values his expertise, supplies abundant materials, and uses him as a teacher, appraiser, forger, scout, and transportation expert, while the jinzhi prevents the relationship from becoming voluntary employment.   • Golden Crow Camp: Gu Ming Gong initially expects to instruct the camp from a position of mastery, but its members' Golden Crow Fire and unfamiliar formations repeatedly shock him.
