Ghost Mist Child

Ghost Mist Child is an ancient Ghost Mist Tribe warrior whose completed cultivation has rejuvenated his visible form into a snowy-white child. He survives as a yin soul associated with the Mist Eye Tablet and serves as the hall master of the Totem Coliseum's Mist Hall. After Zuo Mo and A Gui defeat him, he yields to Zuo Mo, becomes an independent acting member of the group, and continues to emerge from and operate the tablet without being identical to the object itself.

Biography

Shen-Power Ruins and the Great-Sect War

Ghost Mist Child first fights Zuo Mo as a mist giant supported by Mist Hall's sea of ghost mist, which continually repairs his body. A Gui prevents him from dissolving and reconstructing himself, while Zuo Mo's Green Pulse String and sun shen power break the defense and force his child-shaped soul from the flames. Captured by A Gui, he bargains with ancient knowledge, teaches Pu Yao and Wei a method for leaving Zuo Mo's body, and finally offers his service and an imprint when Zuo Mo threatens to kill him. Zuo Mo accepts the surrender but imposes his own Soul Setting Divine Light instead of the proffered restraint. (Chapters 793–795)

Once bound, Ghost Mist Child guides the group through the ruins, uses surviving Totem Coliseum functions to observe their separated comrades, identifies ancient weapons and materials, and operates the Mist Eye Tablet during their ambushes. His knowledge is valuable but geographically limited: despite his age, he had remained inside Mist Hall and knows the other halls and palaces mostly by report. Zuo Mo later gives him the Rain Commanding Banner, whose affinity lets him part the corrosive storm, and Ghost Mist Child points the group toward the Chief Tower and its shen-device nucleus. In later combat, he turns into a mountain-sized mist giant and controls a released sea of ghost mist, though enemies can still escape its reach. (Chapters 796–812 and 821)

Nether Succession and the Final War

After the group survives the endless void, Ghost Mist Child is one of the companions who has taken turns protecting the injured Zuo Mo and then sleeps to absorb the high-grade materials they encountered. In Nether Realm he awakens from the Mist Eye Tablet when called, joins Tenth Grade, Sunshine, and Black Gold in Zuo Mo's fighting group, and adapts his old mist methods to ambush tactics. He later refines death energy into a separate stomach-space rather than corrupting his pure ghost-mist body, broadening what he can trap and process. His tears at Zuo Mo's recovery show that the coerced subordinate of the ruins has become emotionally attached to his master and companions. (Chapters 857–858, 867–868, 875, and 877)

His final documented scene preserves the distinction between spirit and vessel. Zuo Mo throws Pu Yao and Wei into the Mist Eye Tablet when their argument becomes physical; Ghost Mist Child then runs out of it in alarm because the two are fighting inside. The tablet is thus a space and treasure in Zuo Mo's possession that Ghost Mist Child inhabits and operates, while Ghost Mist Child remains the agent who can enter, leave, speak, choose, and react. (Chapter 880)

Appearance and personality

In his compact form, Ghost Mist Child is a completely snowy-white, initially naked child with a young voice and the diction and self-image of an ancient elder. Wei explains that this child form is the result of a Ghost Mist Tribe warrior reaching the end of cultivation and rejuvenating. In battle he can instead manifest as a vast mist giant, the form associated with his former identity as Mist Hall's strongest guardian. (Chapters 793, 804, 821, and 867)

He is boastful, talkative, cautious, and strongly attached to survival. Capture quickly makes him bargain, exaggerate his connections, and adapt to the hierarchy among Zuo Mo's companions. He fears Silly Bird because Phoenix Flame is his natural enemy and initially avoids attracting attention around her. Over time he becomes a cooperative, occasionally theatrical henchman, passes stories to Qing Xiao, and openly celebrates Zuo Mo's recovery. (Chapters 793–795, 801, 803–804, 858, and 877)

Abilities and cultivation

Ghost Mist Child's body is made from ghost mist and can dissolve, reform, and shift between child and giant manifestations. Within a sufficient sea of ghost mist he can heal damage, create heavy Ghost Mist Heads, conceal his presence, sense and position targets, move the mist as a mass, and restrain opponents with mist like chains. His home-field advantage is decisive enough that the narration calls him king within ghost mist, but it is conditional on access to that medium and can be countered by forces such as sun shen power and Phoenix Flame. (Chapters 793, 799–800, 803, 821, and 868)

As a yin soul, he can perceive Pu Yao and Wei and knows a chant that lets souls manifest outside a host body. His ancient knowledge covers the Totem Coliseum, weapons such as Immemorial and the God-Killing Blood Sword, and some old materials, but his isolation makes it incomplete: he does not know other halls firsthand and is unfamiliar with later concepts such as illusory formations. (Chapters 793–799 and 805–808)

He has high affinity with rain and can use the Rain Commanding Banner to redirect the Rain Palace's corrosive downpour. In Nether Realm he experiments with absorbing death energy into a distinct internal space filled with mist and poisons. This design avoids mixing too many energies into his primary body, but the narrative presents it as a developing tactic rather than an unlimited defense or a new cultivation realm. (Chapters 810 and 875)

Relationships

  • Zuo Mo: Zuo Mo defeats, interrogates, and binds Ghost Mist Child with Soul Setting Divine Light. Ghost Mist Child initially obeys from fear and hope of restoring his true body, then repeatedly guides, scouts, fights, and protects Zuo Mo; by Nether Realm he calls him Master and weeps in joy when Zuo Mo recovers. (Chapters 793–799, 810, 857, 867, and 877)
  • A Gui: A Gui's strange power prevents Ghost Mist Child from dissolving his body, and she physically captures his escaping child form. Her role is essential to his defeat, but the corpus does not establish a later personal bond between them. (Chapter 793)
  • Pu Yao and Wei: Ghost Mist Child can hear them when they are souls within Zuo Mo and gives them the method to manifest outside him. They help pressure him into yielding; much later, their fight inside the Mist Eye Tablet drives him from the vessel in alarm. (Chapters 793–795 and 880)
  • Silly Bird: Ghost Mist Child recognizes Silly Bird's Phoenix Flame and unusual shen methodology. Because Phoenix Flame is his natural bane, he is frightened of her and restrains his urge to show off when she is nearby. (Chapters 803–804)
  • Zuo Mo's younger companions: He learns to work beside Tenth Grade, Black Gold, Sunshine, Lil' Pagoda, and Qing Xiao. He supplies mist for ambushes and combat, tells Qing Xiao stories, and joins the group celebration of Zuo Mo's recovery. (Chapters 799–801, 821, 858, 867–877)

Items

  • Mist Eye Tablet: Ghost Mist Child forged this treasure and can activate its mist sea and deeper functions. After his surrender, Zuo Mo takes the tablet and treats it as one of his own strongest weapons; later he carries it in his ring and can place other souls inside. Ghost Mist Child inhabits, emerges from, and operates the tablet, but the tablet's custody belongs to Zuo Mo and the two are not the same entity. It is seriously damaged during Ghost Mist Child's defeat and requires time to recover. (Chapters 795–796, 799, 867–868, and 880)
  • Rain Commanding Banner: Zuo Mo retrieves this ancient banner and gives it to Ghost Mist Child after confirming that he can use it. Ghost Mist Child's rain affinity lets him part the hostile downpour, and Zuo Mo explicitly transfers ownership to him on condition that he perform well. (Chapter 810)
