Bing Yao

Biography

Documented arc

Bing Yao welcomes Zuo Mo's group into the isolated Mist Tribe and explains the cloud carpet woven from cloud-silk grass. He gives the carpet freely, examines a copper mask for Zuo Mo, and promises the tribe's aid. When Ding Zhen intrudes into the mist, Bing Yao detects him and fights to protect the settlement. (Chapters 532–535)

As the battle becomes destructive, he orders the mist people to withdraw and later organizes the search for Zuo Mo and A Gui. He grieves when they cannot be found, then respectfully follows Lan after the ancestral totem restores the tribe's Ice Mist Shen Power. The tribe subsequently opens transport links with Turtle Island. (Chapters 536–543)

Years later, the Mist Tribe has prospered through its cloud mist and ice crystals. Under Lan's direction, Bing Yao travels to Zuo Mo and commissions a batch of Mo Mist shen equipment suited to his people, offering to pay the full cost. (Chapter 818)

Appearance and personality

He appears as a middle-aged figure formed from mist. Bing Yao is hospitable, generous, and direct with allies, but decisive when danger reaches his people. His grief after Zuo Mo's disappearance and devotion to Lan emphasize his loyalty to both guest and tribe. (Chapters 532–537)

Abilities and cultivation

Bing Yao can sense movement inside the cloud sea and manipulate ice mist. Against Ding Zhen, he forms blue threads of light that freeze the candle flames of the Lantern Light Buddhist Boundary. The scene explicitly limits this strength: within the home mist he can contend with the yuanying intruder, but outside it he is not Ding Zhen's match. Lan later restores the tribe's Ice Mist Shen Power, though no later personal duel shows Bing Yao's resulting level. (Chapters 534–537)

Relationships

Bing Yue is his daughter. Lan is the Mist Tribe's ancestral totem and the authority whose guidance he follows. Zuo Mo becomes a trusted benefactor and later the forger he approaches on the tribe's behalf, while Ding Zhen is the intruder he battles in the mist. (Chapters 532–537, 818)

Items

The cloud carpet is a valuable Mist Tribe product that Bing Yao gives to Zuo Mo; it calms the mind and can help remove mental barriers, but it does not remain Bing Yao's possession. He briefly handles Zuo Mo's copper mask for an inquiry. The Mo Mist shen equipment is a commissioned batch for the tribe, not a named personal weapon of Bing Yao. (Chapters 532, 818)
