Travis

Travis Éclair is a Sect of Hedon disciple abducted so that Daneel Anivron can use his identity. Many famous deeds attached to the name “Travis” are therefore Daneel's actions in disguise, not accomplishments of the original man.

Biography

Stolen identity and a new master

The Watcher presents an unconscious Travis as the best identity for Daneel's infiltration because both are newly advanced Amateur Warriors. In Travis's face, Daneel reunites the Shameless Sect, runs the inheritance-site scam, gains a Central Tower post, and investigates Ashahell. The real Travis remains captive and does not plan or execute those operations; even the later stories of the “Lord of Shamelessness” primarily describe the impersonator. (Chapters 415–476)

When Daneel prepares to leave, he discovers that the Watcher has told Travis the truth, taken him as a disciple, and secured his oath. Travis agrees to resume his own place and preserve the infiltration's secrets. By the later Sect gathering he has left to pursue an exceptional training opportunity, returns for visits, appears happier, and shows steadily growing power. His former friends still miss the unusually brilliant version of Travis without realizing how much of that persona belonged to Daneel. (Chapters 483, 558, and 930–943)

Appearance and personality

Travis is blonde, slim, and freckled. The original man's stable personality is only sparsely shown because Daneel occupies his identity for most early appearances. He is kind enough to be remembered warmly by the Red Herring women and adaptable enough to accept the Watcher, an oath, and a return to a life altered without his consent. The flamboyant scheming behavior in Chapters 416–476 is chiefly Daneel's performance. (Chapters 415, 441–443, and 483)

Abilities and power

The real Travis has recently become an Amateur Warrior when abducted. No named Path, signature technique, or verified later realm is supplied. Training under the Watcher produces continuing growth by Chapter 930, but the text does not quantify it, so it cannot be converted into a specific advancement. The scams, Mageroot-less spells, impersonation, and high-level combat displayed under his name belong to Daneel and are not evidence of Travis's abilities. (Chapters 415, 483, and 930)

• Daneel Anivron: Daneel takes Travis's identity, later meets the informed original, and retains him as a possible cover under oath.
• The Watcher: The Watcher first helps abduct Travis and later becomes his master, giving him the opportunity that draws him away from the Sect.
