Skrrag
Skrrag is the son of the Hidden Kill Sect's former leader, a gifted assassin first groomed for succession and later made Luther's second-in-command.
Biography
Heir displaced into partnership
Skrrag first represents the Hidden Kill Sect at Lanthanor's court and later serves beside his father during the contest over the Basilisk's legacy. He admires Daneel and is stunned when the prophecy and council vote make the outsider sect leader, but he carries his unconscious father out rather than challenging the transfer immediately. (Chapters 104–114 and 368–388)
In the succession tournament, Skrrag's talent and inherited resources make him the expected victor. He performs the final assassination scenario faster than Luther until Daneel covertly causes a vase to expose him, costing one second. Rather than discard him, Daneel appoints Skrrag deputy under Luther. The partnership proves functional: Skrrag helps Luther administer contracts, learn the sect's systems, and avoid work that would harm Daneel's interests. (Chapters 394–405 and 439)
Appearance and personality
Skrrag is a reptilian man, and his speech and manner can appear reserved beside human courtiers. He is proud of his inheritance, loyal to his father and sect, ambitious enough to seek command, and adaptable enough to support the rival who wins it. (Chapters 104 and 385–405)
Abilities and power
Skrrag is an elite assassin trained with the Hidden Kill Sect's best resources and the Basilisk inheritance. His forte is close combat: he moves silently through guarded spaces, defeats simulated defenders quickly, and uses shadow-concealment to approach a target. That concealment is not absolute; an unexpected physical collision reveals his position, and the tournament shows how a small disruption can ruin assassination timing. The corpus confirms no later formal realm, so his latest power is that of a highly skilled sect assassin and deputy, not a stated Champion or Hero. (Chapters 385–405 and 439)
