Molan

Molan is Xuan's longtime companion in the Goddess's Sanctum. Her devotion curdles into possessiveness, leading her to cooperate in the deception and imprisonment of the person she claims to protect.

Biography

Devotion, jealousy, and betrayal

Molan spends decades beside the sheltered Xuan, handling practical matters and treating her safety as a personal responsibility. She accompanies Xuan through Lanthanor, allows The Matron to incarnate through her body during a crisis, and initially functions as the trusted bridge between Xuan and the Sanctum. As Xuan becomes attached to Daneel, however, Molan's jealousy grows into resentment rather than honest disagreement. (Chapters 247–277 and 570–582)

That possessiveness makes Molan cooperate with a hidden Hero and the Church-aligned plot against Xuan. She supplies false information, masks an absence, and helps lure Xuan into the captivity where her visions are suppressed and she is tortured for months. Molan later expresses genuine regret, but the consequences cannot be undone: she is restrained and made to witness the torture, then left alive in custody for Xuan to decide her fate. Appearance and personality

Molan is notably small, standing around five feet tall. She can be practical and warmly familiar with Xuan, but her closeness also feeds entitlement: she comes to think of Xuan as belonging to her and interprets new affection as theft. Her remorse after the betrayal is presented as real, though it does not excuse the choices that enabled Xuan's suffering. (Chapters 247–248 and 908–909)

Abilities and power

Molan is a trained Goddess's Sanctum disciple and can participate in stealth, travel, and formation-breaching work, but the corpus does not confirm a formal realm or signature combat Path.
