Saint Emperor

The Saint Emperor, known to Grand Heavens Boundary as the Blight Emperor and originally named Arahan, is the oldest and strongest Nox Emperor active in the lower universe. Born with identity among a race designed as obedient vessels, he rejects every allegiance and spends almost a billion years manipulating wars to escape boredom and fate. His attempt to imitate the Void gives him mastery across reality's Laws, makes Damien Void both his obsession and intended successor, and ends in a final battle where he chooses death as the catalyst for Damien's future.

Biography

The first self-aware Nox

Arahan is born among the earliest Nox with a question most of his race cannot form: whether his existence has any meaning beyond another being's will. Recognizing the Nox as instruments rather than a people with a self-directed purpose, he refuses submission without becoming a conventional rebel. He instead abandons loyalty to the race and decides that every action will serve only his own freedom, a choice that preserves his ego while isolating him from any community that could have moderated it. (Chapter 1303)

For hundreds of thousands of years he watches successive Nox generations invade universes and finds their repeating victories and defeats intolerably predictable. Observation becomes intervention, then calculation. Once he encounters the force called the Dark God's Seed, he begins reconstructing the accessible Laws that appear to compose it and trains seriously for the first time. Power gives his interventions reach; repetition turns amusement into the purpose of immortality. The Saint Emperor eventually treats civilizations, wars, and even his own race as pieces in a story authored for his entertainment. (Chapters 1303–1304)

Calypto and the discovery of Damien

The Saint Emperor notices Damien after the Fifth Primal Sovereign's death and engineers their first direct contact through Calypto's corrupted World Core. Speaking through the Core as an avatar, he attacks until Damien mutilates his own projected body to resist corruption, then stops when the response proves interesting. Rather than eliminate a dangerous Celestial, he gives his title and promises to watch Damien mature. He later sends Sebastian to test the human and deliberately keeps Bai Yumo away so the prospective opponents do not meet before Damien is ready. (Chapters 731–744 and 761)

On Calypto's final battlefield, he splits his consciousness between the World Core conflict and physical combat with Park Jinho. His minimal resistance inadvertently lets Damien observe the interplay of universal Laws, yet this help does not make him benevolent. When the infected Core is being purified, he corrupts the world's surface, splits the planet, and leaves its survivors an infertile ruin simply to reassert the difference in power. Damien's vow to destroy him pleases rather than threatens him because a meaningful future opponent is precisely the result he wants. (Chapters 780 and 786–790)

Sovereign, “father,” and author of conflict

At the Grand Assembly, the Saint Emperor breaks Luxurion's barrier with hundreds of high-level Nox and introduces himself as the Blight Emperor. He uses their collective threat to force the universe's geniuses into public matches, presenting Bai Yumo as his son and Saint King. When Damien defeats Bai Yumo, the Emperor prevents the killing blow and offers a two-year ceasefire whose central term isolates Damien until a rematch. By staking his race on the oath, he also demonstrates that the other Emperors fall under his practical authority. (Chapters 1038–1049 and 1087)

Bai Yumo is not a child he raises through affection. The Saint Emperor massacres the peaceful settlement where the boy is born, tortures the survivors into obedience, and shapes Bai Yumo into a public heir and weapon. When the son loses again and reveals a will outside the assigned role, the Emperor rejects and attempts to kill him. This cruelty serves the wider “plot” he is constructing around Damien, just as his interference connects Immortal Blood Asura, the Black Dragon Clan, and other conflicts to the same growth program. Al'Katra and the apparent killing of the protagonist

The Saint Emperor's independence from the Nox's creators becomes increasingly explicit. He can threaten their Envoy, shows contempt for the beings claiming ownership of his race, and has no loyalty to the Dark God. Yet his rebellion is not a rescue effort. He allows Damien's infiltration of Al'Katra to proceed because the destruction of the Demon Abyss and lesser Nox will improve the climax he wants, then arranges more than two hundred Nox Divinities around the exit to exploit the instant before universal restrictions remove them. (Chapters 1217–1221)

When Damien emerges, the Emperor pierces him, cuts his Sanctuary connection, and floods him with Divine Energy while the gathered Lords maintain a barrier against lesser mana. The act sacrifices the Nox command structure by sending every participating Demigod to the Ancient Battlefield, but Arahan considers the price irrelevant. Believing Damien's role complete, he kills him and attempts to claim the Dark God's Seed. The theft fails, leaving the Emperor without the power or protagonist he expected and breaking the self-appointed identity he built across eons. (Chapters 1221, 1231–1236, and 1304)

The final opponent and chosen catalyst

Damien's reappearance on the Ancient Battlefield gives the Saint Emperor a last purpose. Arahan explains his history and admits that boredom, obsession with the Void, and the desire to control his own story—not allegiance or a hidden moral mandate—drove his atrocities. Their similar desire for freedom and control makes Damien understand a potential version of himself he hates. In combat, Arahan counters every accessible Law with greater accumulated skill, while Damien's purer conceptual foundation prevents experience alone from deciding the fight. (Chapters 1303–1309)

Years pass for the two within their isolated battlefield as Creation, Destruction, the fundamental Laws, Legend, and partial Existence collide. The Saint Emperor gradually stops treating the fight as theft and chooses to become the catalyst that the future requires. He spends his remaining Divine Energy, reaches a final breakthrough in Existence, and ensures his death cannot be reversed. Damien holds him as he dies and learns the lost name Arahan, meaning freedom—the private identity buried beneath the imperial title. (Chapters 1310–1314)

Damien uses Devour not to erase Arahan but to preserve his memories, Legends, and comprehension inside himself. The inheritance sharply advances Damien's fundamental Law Authorities and Existence, but its greater consequence is ethical: he promises to create a world where no one suffers Arahan's fate. The Saint Emperor remains a mass murderer whose victims cannot be reconciled by his final choice, yet his last action deliberately transfers the insight and pressure needed for a successor to challenge the forces that manufactured the Nox. Appearance and personality

The Saint Emperor is tall, ash-grey skinned, and more human in form than most Nox. Long black hair flows down his back, his sclerae are black, and his piercing red eyes become distinctly slit like a snake's. His handsome, scholarly appearance clashes with the corruption and extermination mana around him. Even after death his body remains intact rather than dissolving into the ink-like substance left by ordinary Nox, visually reinforcing how far his existence has diverged from the race's norm. His visible moods are intentionally unreliable. He can be jovial, lustfully interested in a worthy opponent, cold without transition, or theatrically arrogant, but most such expressions are tools refined over an age too long for a stable ordinary personality. What persists beneath them is boredom, curiosity, obsession, and an absolute rejection of ownership. He can raise one civilization and destroy another with equal detachment if either result makes history less predictable. (Chapters 789–790, 1049, 1087, and 1303–1304)

Arahan's most important contradiction is that his search for freedom turns other lives into objects. He recognizes the Nox's enslavement but massacres Bai Yumo's family and builds another slave; he rejects fate while authoring conflicts that rob others of choice. His final acceptance of a catalyst's role is genuine, but not redemptive for his victims. Damien's understanding concerns the will that survived beneath those crimes, while Yong An and Bai Yumo retain every reason to remember only the villain. Abilities, laws, and evolution

Imitation of the Void and fundamental Laws

The Saint Emperor has no true connection to the Void. Over immense time, he studies what he can perceive of its expressions and reconstructs an imitation from Laws available inside reality. This gives his mana properties that resemble many elements and allows him to counter space, time, elemental forces, Creation, and Destruction with accumulated comprehension. The imitation remains conceptually inferior to Damien's Void-derived power: Nonexistence is inaccessible, and Damien's Divinity represents the original ideal Arahan can only approximate. His Law breadth supports both subtle combinations and planetary force. He can mix metal with lightning, light with darkness, or life-and-death concepts; create extermination mana; summon resentment-filled deathly water and mana insects; and split or sterilize a world while operating through a constrained avatar. Because he understands the underlying universal connections, he can deconstruct an opponent's Law technique and reproduce its functional logic. This is mastery acquired through time, not automatic possession of every higher concept. (Chapters 786–790 and 1305)

Creation, Destruction, Legend, and Existence

Creation and Destruction become the major poles of Arahan's final Divinity. Creation manifests a vast avatar carrying his being and can assault an opponent with merged memories, while Destruction targets more than matter, including Damien's senses and the continuity of attacks. He also weaponizes Legend through the avatar, giving a personal existence the scale needed to contest another Divinity. These applications demand Divine Energy and can be countered when Damien suppresses the relevant connection through Samsara or seizes Arahan's mana internally. (Chapters 1308–1313)

Arahan's highest ambition is Existence: the capacity to make his selfhood real enough that neither creators nor fate can define it. His Divinity closely imitates Damien's but lacks the latter's purity and relationship with the Void. During their battle he spends nearly all Divine Energy and pushes Existence beyond the level previously possible for him. The breakthrough is terminal rather than sustainable; it helps complete the battle and becomes transferable insight only because Damien devours him after death. (Chapters 1307, 1313–1315)

Avatars, World Cores, and Divine restrictions

The Saint Emperor can project through corrupted World Cores and field avatars while his true Divine existence remains elsewhere. Calypto's Core supplies overwhelming reserves and lets him corrupt its laws directly, while a physical avatar can fight at the fourth-class limit imposed by the situation yet retain Divine technique and enough output to ruin the planet. Splitting consciousness allows him to manage Core resistance and another battle simultaneously without visible strain. (Chapters 731–733, 739, 780, and 786–790)

Avatars do not remove every constraint. Purifying the World Core weakens his access, forcing time and effort if he wants to retake control, and universal rules eventually displace active Demigods to the Ancient Battlefield. He exploits timing and loopholes rather than nullifying the restriction, most lethally at Al'Katra where Damien is killed within the one second before displacement completes. Damage can reflect between avatar and source, as the Primal Sovereign's enduring wound demonstrates, so projection is not wholly consequence-free. (Chapters 790, 1109, and 1221)

Combat skill, regeneration, and command

Almost a billion years of experience makes Arahan a close-combat master even without large Law displays. Bare-handed, he reads blind spots, changes a strike's path mid-motion, parries weapons with his forearms, and imprints every exchange on a lesser opponent's soul. Against Damien, ordinary technique initially cannot land because Arahan has encountered too many patterns. His advantage is skill rather than unconditional superiority: Damien's raw force, purer Laws, and growth during the battle eventually reach parity. (Chapters 787–789 and 1305–1307)

As an Emperor he commands legions, can bind the Nox race through an oath, and intimidates the other Emperors into treating his ceasefire as sovereign law. His strategic reach comes from information networks, deliberate provocations, and willingness to accept losses. It does not imply loyalty from every Nox or perfect foresight. He misjudges Damien's death and the Seed's transfer, and his elaborate plans collapse when the protagonist survives outside his expected causality. (Chapters 739, 906, 1038–1049, 1087, and 1304)

• Damien Void: Damien begins as a prospective opponent and vessel for the Seed Arahan covets. The Emperor engineers trials, spares and torments him on Calypto, isolates him through the ceasefire, and kills him on Al'Katra. Damien's survival transforms possession into recognition: their final battle makes each the other's only true equal in the lower universe, and Arahan chooses to become fuel for the successor who can complete the rebellion he cannot. • Bai Yumo: Arahan calls Bai Yumo his son only after slaughtering the boy's family and torturing him into a weapon. He uses the Saint King to conquer Nox allegiance, defeat Su Ren, and challenge Damien, then rejects and attacks him once he ceases to serve the assigned plot. • Sebastian: Sebastian is Arahan's personal butler and most fervent servant. The Emperor entrusts him with observing and testing Damien, but responds to failure by leaving his wounds unhealed as a reminder. • Soul Emperor: The Soul Emperor shares Nox imperial rank but not Arahan's independence. Arahan is stronger, openly forces the other Emperors under the ceasefire, and later conflicts with Soul Emperor forces in the Abyss. Their contrast is ideological: the Soul Emperor remains a vessel for the creators' will, while Arahan would destroy masters and race alike to preserve personal freedom. • Victims and successor: Arahan understands that most beings will celebrate his death.
