Ash Sword
History
Eoduksi, the Leader of the Metaverse, reveals the Ash Sword during his duel with Jaehwan. The sword is one of his Three Divine Artifacts and an imitation of Catastrophe's Void Sword. Naming the Part activates its special effect, while the surrounding Ash Pentagon enforces the duel condition that lets the weapon function. (Chapter 164)
The blade should turn a target to ash with a graze, yet it has no effect on Jaehwan. Jaehwan initially wonders whether his connection to the original Void Sword is responsible, but the supplied corpus does not confirm the cause. Eoduksi responds by combining the weapon with Metallic Ash, the Ash Hourglass, and repeated Time Rewind, then enlarges it for a final strike after time reversal becomes unavailable. (Chapters 165–166)
Eoduksi later uses the Ash Sword against Cheonryung during the Rift war. Because the confrontation is not a valid one-on-one contest and Ash Pentagon cannot isolate the opponent, the sword's transmutation does not activate. Its later reputation in the Abyss remains tied to Eoduksi's supposedly invincible single-combat Setting. (Chapters 212, 228)
Properties and use
The Ash Sword is a Part whose contact effect turns an enemy to ash, but it operates under a strict law: it is effective only in a one-on-one duel. Eoduksi compensates by using Ash Pentagon to seal himself and one opponent inside a ring. Against two or more enemies—or when the ring cannot establish that condition—the sword loses its defining power. (Chapters 164, 212)
The weapon can grow to several meters for a large finishing cut and can be used as an ordinary blade even when its special effect is constrained. Its immunity interaction with Jaehwan is observed repeatedly but never definitively explained, so a connection to the Void Sword remains Jaehwan's hypothesis rather than an established mechanic. (Chapters 165–166)
