Susan

Susan is a traumatized apprentice who survives Bertren's failed demon summoning and is compelled to guide the Congress investigators through his castle. (Chapters 245–254)

Biography

Returning to the castle she escaped

Susan recounts the blood and dismemberment of the summoning with visible terror and begs Lucien not to require a guide. The investigators nevertheless need her knowledge of the layout, so she returns under Sandra's protection and helps shape their route to the summoning room. Susan cannot fight independently when the defenses fail, but she drinks a calming potion, speaks to another survivor, and continues walking while every new sign suggests the demon remains alive. Her contribution is survival under pressure and local knowledge, not combat mastery. (Chapters 245–254)

Appearance and abilities

Susan has burgundy hair and a pale, frightened appearance after the massacre. As an apprentice she can maintain basic magical defenses only with substantial support; Sandra's spheres protect her through the worst attacks. No named spell or later advancement is established. (Chapters 245–254)
