Sophia

Sophia is Rudolf II's daughter, an imperial princess and blood-power caster who hides a ruthless bid for succession beneath an outgoing, cultivated public manner. Her attempt to exploit the Gorse family's underground trial exposes both her political nerve and the weakness of plans built on power she does not personally control. (Chapters 393–409)

Biography

The underground-palace conspiracy

Sophia enters noble society as a piano enthusiast and apparently playful princess, but joins the Gorse inheritance trial with a private design on the throne. She cooperates with the Gorse duke and the Glorious Crown, betrays a friend and loyal knights, and expects the underground palace's dangers to remove rivals while leaving her able to negotiate from safety. Instead, the supernatural crisis kills participants beyond her control and exposes how much she relies on Metatron, Ulrich, and borrowed secrets. When Lucien Evans, disguised as Beaulac and then revealed as a sorcerer, overpowers the situation, Sophia bargains rather than fight hopelessly and guides him to Sun King's chambers under compulsion. Her choices preserve her life, but strip away the image of an untouchable strategist. (Chapters 393–408)

Rudolf II arrives through Beyer's body and refuses to excuse or simply condemn her. He identifies her failures: she lacked the power to enforce her conspiracy, trusted partners who protected themselves first, and entered the danger instead of remaining outside with plausible innocence. Sophia is startled that he treats attempted fratricide as a lesson in imperial survival, then watches Lucien escape despite her desire for revenge. She later participates indirectly in the alliance observing Lucien's movements in the alternate dimension, but does not confront him again; when his battle proves far beyond her, she is left frightened by how badly she misjudged him. Appearance and personality

Sophia is a blond, green-eyed young woman, about twenty during the underground-palace incident, usually dressed in elegant white. She is charming, outgoing, musically enthusiastic, and skilled at turning apparent vulnerability into social leverage. Under extreme danger she is inexperienced and visibly terrified, yet she remains quick to assess what an opponent wants and negotiate for survival. Her ambition is real, but so is the gap between courtly cleverness and the power needed to control a lethal conspiracy. (Chapters 393–409)

Magic, abilities, and skills

Sophia possesses the royal Seraph bloodline variant called Angel of Wind and is a level-five caster. It favors spellcasting rather than close combat; she uses a magic staff, warning magic, fire attacks, and eventually manifests six white wings and wind-aligned angelic power. The bloodline gives her unusually rapid early advancement, but Lucien notes that later progress still requires trained willpower. Her demonstrated limits are equally important: senior sorcery can see through her disguise, constrain her casting, and use her as an unwilling magical assistant. (Chapters 393–409 and 483)
