Rogerio

Rogerio is a senior necromancer, one of the leaders of the Hand of Paleness, and a member of the Congress's Affairs Committee. He administers sensitive research, coordinates responses to the life-force controversy, and represents the necromantic establishment during disputes that reshape its theories. Biography

Managing the Hand of Paleness under theoretical pressure

Rogerio first appears socially as Deroni's relative and business partner, but his institutional position becomes clear when Felipe addresses him with deference at Heidler. As Felipe's synthesis experiments attract leaks and hostility, Rogerio takes the report of a traitor seriously and helps bring the work before the Congress. At the decisive gathering he leads senior necromancers into the hall and, as an Affairs Committee representative, assigns tasks after the experimental result is announced. His pressure is twofold: protect his organization's confidential work while responding to evidence that can invalidate a foundational account of life. He does not prevent the disclosure merely because it empowers a rival school, and the Congress is able to act on the finding through the procedures he administers. (Chapters 198–234)

Rogerio later chairs or participates in the Hand's discussions when atomic theory itself begins to fail. He suspects that rumors are being managed and has to judge whether apparent anomalies are ordinary institutional caution or evidence of a deeper discovery. Fernando eventually criticizes him for omitting an alternate-dimension event from a report, showing the limit of Rogerio's administrative record: proximity to dangerous phenomena does not guarantee that he recognizes or discloses their full significance. He remains present when Lucien's relativity work is celebrated, suggesting that rivalry and imperfect reporting do not remove him from the Congress's shared scholarly life. Appearance and personality

Rogerio is a well-mannered man in his forties with brown hair, dark-blue eyes, a tall nose, and a formal suit. His pale hand and undead servant suit his necromantic affiliation, while his conduct is controlled and procedural rather than theatrical. He is ambitious enough to regret that magic, not arcana, is his greater talent, and serious when institutional betrayal is alleged. (Chapters 107, 204, 217, and 225)

Magic, abilities, and skills

Rogerio is a senior-rank necromancer with leadership over undead servants and access to the Hand of Paleness's high-level rites and intelligence. The corpus shows an undead specter reporting to him but does not name a signature personal spell or provide a complete circle history. His best-documented skills are research administration, information handling, and coordinating sorcerers during a Congress-wide response. (Chapters 198, 204, 225, and 234)
