Prospell

Prospell is the speaking alchemical life that guards and helps operate the Allyn Magic Tower. Its cheerful, flirtatious gatekeeping persona coexists with control over space-folding rooms, emergency alerts, demiplane communications, lockdowns, and defensive access during crises. Biography

From gatekeeper to emergency operator

Prospell first greets new arrivals at the tower and embodies the peculiar independence of Congress alchemical life: it keeps working hours, jokes with regular visitors, and offers especially warm welcomes to attractive women. Those habits make it seem like a comic doorman, but its continuing function is embedded throughout the building. For Lucien's open class it expands a room with a space-folding circle so thousands can attend, converting the tower's architecture to meet an educational demand. During a reactor accident, Prospell detects loss of control, announces the danger, and activates Allyn's highest protection before the effects can spread. (Chapters 185–203, 443, 663, and 690)

Its strategic importance becomes clearest during major attacks. Prospell activates an emergency plan and contacts linked demiplanes, accepts Brook's order to lock the highest levels, and later helps Oliver enter Fernando's library and reach surviving defense pivots after other controls are destroyed. It does not independently choose Congress policy, but it keeps authorized people connected to the tower's machinery when ordinary access fails. (Chapters 736, 814, and 818)

Appearance and personality

Prospell is usually encountered as the voice and intelligence of the tower rather than a fixed humanoid body. Its voice is cheerful and delightful in ordinary operation, dull when bored, and low and solemn during emergencies. It is playful, lazy about overtime, and openly fond of beauty, but becomes exact and task-focused when alarms or defense protocols activate. (Chapters 185–203, 736, and 818)

Magic, abilities, and skills

Prospell can authenticate and greet entrants, operate spatial expansion, broadcast alarms, trigger tower protection, contact demiplanes, enforce lockdowns, and assist authorized control of Allyn's defenses. These effects appear to derive from its integration with the tower's magic circles rather than portable personal spellcasting. Damage to control pivots limits available functions, though redundant pivots let it continue assisting defenders. (Chapters 663, 690, 736, 814, and 818)
