Philibell
Philibell is the Church's senior cardinal in Holm and later Violet, responsible for countering the Congress while arcana repeatedly overturns religiously protected explanations. (Chapters 218–235, 353–651, and 805–811)
Biography
Guarding a parish against intellectual and political defeat
Philibell identifies Lucien as a young threat after the Holm Crown and coordinates spies, assassinations, and regional Church defenses. Experimental attacks on life-force doctrine nearly destabilize his soul, but Vaharall helps him recover and Philibell adapts enough to exploit later wave–particle conflict rather than rejecting all science alike. As Holm shifts toward the Congress, he carries Church news to Natasha and later leads worship in Aalto. During Viken's final operation he joins the Grand Cardinals resisting the primeval hell while preparing Mountain Paradise, leaving him alive inside the Church's last collective gamble. (Chapters 218–235, 353–510, 651, and 805–811)
Appearance and abilities
Philibell has a thick white beard and projects anger, caution, and institutional persistence. As a Grand Cardinal he commands parish intelligence, divine circles, and senior clergy. The corpus shows spiritual vulnerability to worldview shocks but does not name his complete divine spell set. (Chapters 228–235, 454, and 651)
