Nasdell

Nasdell is a werewolf sent by Prince Dubenal to investigate how the Congress of Magic has changed Rentato and Allyn. His disastrous attempt to pass as an ordinary traveler turns the modern city itself into evidence that old dark-creature assumptions no longer fit the human world. (Chapters 730–734 and 772–773)

Biography

A scout overwhelmed by modern Rentato

Dubenal orders Nasdell to observe transportation, industry, and daily life because the werewolves' later political choice will depend on his report. Nasdell suppresses his fur and enters Rentato as a brawny silver-haired man, but unfamiliar technology defeats his preparation: a train journey, bright crystal lights, street hazards, and a chance explosion leave him paralyzed, bloodied, and trapped beneath a glued sewer lid. He wants to use werewolf strength to escape, yet doing so would expose the very disguise the mission requires. (Chapters 730–732)

His fear escalates when he sees a vampire and interprets the crowded capital as lethally hostile. Rather than complete a systematic survey, Nasdell flees to the Silver Moon Wasteland and reports with his head lowered. Dubenal accepts the conclusion that Rentato has become dangerous, so even a failed investigation influences the werewolves' understanding: Congress modernization has made human space unpredictable to creatures accustomed to dominating it through physical power. Nasdell later accompanies Dubenal toward the Dark Congress meeting, where his unquestioning admiration repeatedly turns the prince's improvisation into apparent genius. (Chapters 733–734 and 772–773)

Appearance and abilities

Nasdell is a werewolf who can retract his fur and assume the form of a brawny man with silver hair. His natural strength should let him smash a sewer lid in full werewolf form, but paralysis, injury, and the need for secrecy prevent that response. The corpus does not establish his exact werewolf rank, special bloodline techniques, or combat record. (Chapters 730–734)
