Malfurion

Malfurion is a legendary druid and elder who seeks practical cooperation with the Congress of Magic to protect forests, farmland, and vulnerable communities. His idea of nature centers on interdependence and balance, a conviction that brings him into both agricultural research and a legendary expedition against corruption in the abyss. (Chapters 216–240 and 669–687)

Biography

Cooperation for land and forest

Malfurion visits Allyn because fewer than a thousand druid apprentices cannot improve enough farmland by divine magic alone. He wants to help poor farmers rather than preserve an isolated monopoly, so he accepts a joint research program even when disputes over life force distract druids and arcanists from crop productivity. The collaboration exposes environmental damage as well as useful chemistry, leaving the druids to negotiate with a Congress whose factories can both feed people and poison rivers. Malfurion's choice is therefore not simple allegiance to sorcerers, but the search for scalable protection of living systems. (Chapters 216–240)

When the Elvish Tree is corrupted, Malfurion helps receive the Congress's investigators and rejects the claim that humanity lies outside nature. He defines nature as a balance among living beings and physical environments, then personally accompanies Lucien and Natasha into the abyss so an accident will not rupture relations between elves and the Congress. He urges investigation with a clear retreat condition if the enemy is too strong, uses his natural power against demons, and survives the exposure of Lankshear's scheme. His conduct preserves cooperation while helping vindicate Ferragond and protect the forest. (Chapters 669–687)

Appearance and personality

Malfurion has green eyes and is generally reserved. His courtesy is political without being empty: he apologizes when another elf's hostility threatens the alliance, states his own inclusive definition of nature, and balances willingness to fight with readiness to retreat and summon reinforcements. (Chapters 671, 674, 676, and 678)

Natural power and druid abilities

Malfurion is a legendary druid whose power can transport a group through nature, grow strange green plants that suppress abyssal sand and curses, and support transformations into powerful natural forms such as a rock giant. He uses a green staff for control and defense. Mental disruption from the Prince of Demons can interrupt a transformation, and unlike most legendary sorcerers he does not possess a personal demiplane, establishing meaningful limits on his otherwise broad natural magic.
