Leo

Leo is a Schachran guide and disguise expert who joins Lucien while seeking revenge on the smuggler Ivanovszki. After Lucien completes that revenge, Leo redirects his loyalty into long-term service as Lucien's butler, controlling access to the arcanist's home and supporting both covert travel and daily institutional work. (Chapters 257–281, 329–336, and 770)

Biography

Revenge, survival, and a new household

Leo survives after Ivanovszki, his former employer, kills his family, and he takes dangerous jobs to save for potions that might make him strong enough to retaliate. Guzon recommends him because he knows the Schachran Empire, can alter appearances without magic, and already has strength close to a knight's. Lucien initially worries that revenge will make him reckless, but Leo supplies intelligence about Ivanovszki's defenses and stays with the mission even after being watched and violently struck down. When Lucien returns with Ivanovszki's sword and confirms the smuggler's death, Leo's defining private goal is fulfilled by an employer whose restraint and planning he has come to respect. (Chapters 257–281)

Rather than parting after the journey, Leo becomes Lucien's butler. He receives visitors, manages household information, and remains trusted around Lucien and Natasha during sensitive discussions. By the later story, students rely on him to tell them when Lucien's tower is closed, so his role has developed from hired local guide into the stable gatekeeper of a demigod arcanist's household and institution. (Chapters 329–336, 586, and 770)

Appearance and personality

Leo is driven by grief but capable of disciplined service. He fears Ivanovszki's hidden protectors and recognizes the danger of Lucien's calm calculations, yet he does not abandon the operation. His later work is discreet and dependable, with the corpus emphasizing judgment and loyalty more than outward appearance. (Chapters 257, 270–281, and 329)

Skills and equipment

Leo has extensive knowledge of Schachran routes and criminal networks, near-knight physical power, and skill at changing a person's appearance through nonmagical methods. During the assault on Ivanovszki he carries a ring enchanted with Feather Fall, but the item does not prevent a stronger opponent from knocking him down. These tools make him useful in infiltration and travel without elevating him to Lucien's level of magical combat. (Chapters 257, 270, and 275)
