Jones
Jones is Donnie's Heidler roommate, a soul-major student whose supernatural forgettability makes companions repeatedly overlook his presence. (Chapters 835–846)
Biography
Becoming memorable to his roommates
Jones arrives before Donnie but goes unnoticed, then calmly helps select courses and explains observations while Donnie repeatedly forgets him. Donnie eventually writes a notebook reminder to preserve the relationship. When Jones, Karl, Donnie, and Sammy share the same nightmare, his strange social effect becomes secondary to collective danger: he joins their investigation, faces the Cemetery of Eternal Sleep, and remains with the group despite fear. By the holiday separation, he has become a real roommate even if memory still needs assistance. (Chapters 835–846)
Appearance and abilities
Jones is a chubby black-haired teenager. He plans to major in the soul and possesses a passive effect that makes others fail to notice or remember him; the mechanism and limits are not explained. He is patient rather than angry about the repeated neglect. (Chapters 835–842)
