Charlie is an experienced middle-rank battle sorcerer who investigates Castle Bertren with Lucien and Sandra and later reviews Isabella's illusion research. (Chapters 245–336)

Biography

Surviving the Bertren deception

Charlie questions Bertren's traumatized apprentices with an intimidating field manner and joins the plan to enter the castle. He uses defensive force magic against demons, but Hatred's gaze breaks his shield and temporarily turns him into a pig, proving that experience does not negate an unknown enemy's special effect. He recovers, continues protecting the group, and later applies a more measured form of judgment as a reviewer, recognizing Isabella's paper as creative while specifying the evidence it still lacks. Personality and abilities

Charlie is serious, combat-tested, and concise. His force-field defenses include Douglas's Absorbing Wall, which can intercept attacks but is vulnerable to Hatred's transformation effect. The corpus identifies middle rank without giving an exact circle. (Chapters 245–252)
