Sorcerer's Spellbook

The Sorcerer's Spellbook is a magitech grimoire that records spells and casts its active collection at one shared item level. Most researchers consider the design broken because its restrictive attunement prevents ordinary users from making it work, but Dominic's unusual mana and patient cultivation reveal the intended operating logic. History

A supposedly defective grimoire

Dominic initially uses the book as a receptacle for spell gems without fully understanding its reputation. As he channels mana through it and records more spells, the book improves as a single artifact rather than requiring him to level every spell independently. By Chapter 160 it supports Level 8 casting; sustained cultivation brings it through Levels 11 and 12, and the Dagos flood later finds it at Level 15. (Chapters 64, 160, 173–178, 251–302, and 519)

The Duskblade Sect recognizes the object as a notorious failed design. Dominic argues that the restriction is intentional and that the creator likely built it for personal use before someone attempted an incompatible copy. The book contains no hidden library of knowledge: it must be used, supplied with spells, and attuned by a wielder whose mana meets its requirements. His success therefore resolves the practical defect without establishing that any sorcerer could repeat it. (Chapters 375–376 and 610–611)

Expansion at Wistover

Dominic continues adding spell gems whenever a useful effect becomes available, including craft, battlefield, agricultural, and domestic magic. Recorded spells inherit the book's common casting level, allowing even a whimsical spell such as Create Chocolate to benefit from the same system as barriers and attacks. The latest explicit level is seventeen in Chapter 611; later additions expand its repertoire, but the corpus does not confirm a higher final level. Properties and use

• Spell recording: Inserting or recording a compatible spell gem adds that magic to the grimoire's available collection. (Chapters 178, 462, 622, and 676)
• Shared casting level: Active spells cast at the spellbook's current level rather than advancing as isolated personal skills. (Chapters 298 and 610)
• Cultivation: Channelling appropriately altered mana and investing time or cores increases the artifact's stored power and the user's affinity for it. (Chapters 251, 268, and 300)
• Broad repertoire: Confirmed uses include combat, barriers, physical enhancements, transmutation, repair, supplies, materia creation, and food production. (Chapters 178, 462, 664, 676, 681, and 742)
• Restriction: Most prospective users cannot attune to the design. Dominic's success does not remove that limitation or make the book a conventional mage's grimoire. (Chapters 375–376 and 611)
• Latest confirmed level: Level 17 in Chapter 611; the supplied corpus provides no later numerical level.
