Pulverizer

The Pulverizer is Loom’s largest weapon, an ancient gravity-particle launcher built to disintegrate distant targets and once associated with a world-ending catastrophe.

History

Hidden weapon of the second moon

Imperial analysis places the Pulverizer in Loom’s core and predicts that it will become exposed when roughly fifty-three percent of the moon is revealed. Its reputed ability to erase a city makes it the primary threat to the spacecraft, space station, and Starkeeper, so Sung-Woon’s coalition plans to reach or distract it before it can fire freely. Activation against Lakrak

As Loom’s exposure passes the predicted threshold, Dide prepares the launcher and targets Lakrak. Lakrak throws his golden spear to draw its attention, but the invisible gravity particles strike at light speed and destroy his spacesuit rather than stopping his divinely protected advance. The failed shot demonstrates both the weapon’s reach and the danger of committing its systems to a target that can survive or evade the intended result. (Chapter 282)

Turned against the old gods

After Loom’s former enemies cooperate with Sung-Woon’s side, the Pulverizer is activated again during the battle against the old gods. Its strike drives a Sky Castle downward, tears open its structure, and crushes the Demons occupying it, showing that the ancient weapon remains functional after Operation: Second Moon. (Chapters 312–313)

Abilities and properties

• The Pulverizer launches gravity particles across distances as great as the separation between Avartin and its moon, with the intended effect of completely disintegrating a target. (Chapter 282)
• It consists of 332 modules and can function with twelve core processing units, but Loom must halt all other operations while firing it. This creates a major system-wide opportunity cost. (Chapter 282)
• The weapon remains concealed in Loom’s core until sufficient exposure and requires observable preparation and rising output, giving opponents a narrow warning window. (Chapters 280–282)
• Its power can annihilate a city or devastate a Sky Castle, but target selection can be manipulated, and divine defenses may prevent a shot from achieving complete disintegration. (Chapters 280–282) (Chapter 313)
