Sratis

Sratis is Choi Sung-Woon’s first great battle creation, a blue mantis-like destroyer whose overwhelming strength protects Black Scale from its earliest tribal wars through the conflict with the old gods.

Biography

Guardian of the lakeside

Sung-Woon creates Sratis from nothing as a purpose-built combat creature, giving the giant mantis a blue accent that connects it to the signs previously shown to Lakrak. Its first mission is to save enslaved Lizardmen from the Two-Headed Fiend worshipped by the Frogmen. Sratis towers over the fifteen-meter serpent, tears its body apart with little resistance, and dedicates the kill to its creator. The rescue makes it an immediate sacred guardian rather than merely a hidden game asset. (Chapters 19–20)

Wooden images of Sratis spread among both Lakrak’s clan and the freed lakeside Lizardmen. Trade in the carvings helps the two groups become familiar with one another, while prayers offered through them increase Sung-Woon’s Faith and Divinity. Sratis itself accepts recall into a frozen state after completing the mission, promising to answer its creator again. This establishes the pattern of its early existence: long absences under direct divine custody followed by sudden deployment when ordinary armies cannot solve a threat. (Chapters 20–21)

Destroyer of gods’ weapons

During the Renard invasion, Sratis delays an entire army and fights Lunda’s creation Neji together with the god-possessed Yubei. The pair tears off one of its legs and pushes it close to defeat, but Sratis holds long enough for Sung-Woon and Lakrak to arrive. Later growth turns that desperate delaying action into far greater battlefield dominance. At Asien Fortress it is explicitly deployed for “murder,” breaks through fortifications, and defeats Wisdom’s four-armed destroyer Ostro despite losing three arms in the fight. (Chapters 61–62 and 138–142)

Sratis continues serving as the foremost creature committed when apostles and armies are insufficient. It leads massed creations through the Union Kingdom’s trenches and, at the Rasdasil Ruins, grows into a fifty-five-meter monster feared even by Dragons. It lunges at Hegemonia’s Hierophany body and loses an arm to her sword, demonstrating both its place at the top of Sung-Woon’s creations and its limit against a highly developed god using the full force of War. (Chapters 186 and 251)

Guardian beyond the game

After the Unification War, Sratis and other intelligent creations live concealed near the Baustan sanctuary because their enormous bodies prefer nature to artificial space. When an old god’s monster attacks, Sratis reappears and methodically disassembles it, while Sung-Woon asks the Revolutionary Army not to harm his creation. During the final struggle, Sratis guards Sung-Woon’s physical body without needing to be summoned and prevents an Angel from interrupting him. Its original battlefield mission has matured into continuous, self-directed protection of its creator. (Chapters 297 and 303)

Appearance and personality

Sratis resembles an enormous upright mantis with a shining blue exoskeleton. It has thick supporting legs, weapon-like forelegs, a separate pair of grasping hands, and multiple pairs of protective elytra that allow it to glide during a fall even though it cannot truly fly. It is about twenty meters tall during the Renard war and reaches roughly fifty-five meters by the battle at the Rasdasil Ruins. (Chapters 19, 61, and 251)

It is formal, fanatically devoted, and contemptuous of beings it judges unworthy of divinity. Sratis speaks to Sung-Woon as “Creator,” treats pain as part of fulfilling an assigned mission, and reacts with rage when enemies damage the body its creator made. Although its language is violent and imposing, its conduct is disciplined: it obeys recall, waits in hiding, avoids mortals when ordered, and channels anger into controlled destruction of designated threats. (Chapters 19–20, 61, 141, and 297–303)

Powers and abilities

Supernatural Strength

Sratis is created with the tier-one combat skill Supernatural Strength. At level 11 its recorded Strength is 220, enough to seize and tear apart a divine fifteen-meter serpent before the fiend can mount an effective defense. Its strength later increases beyond 500 at level 24, allowing it to break through fortress walls and grapple other gods’ destroyers. By the Rasdasil battle, its fifty-five-meter body can physically threaten a Hierophany, although Hegemonia’s War-enhanced sword remains capable of severing its arm. (Chapters 19, 138–142, and 251)

Destroyer specialization

Sratis is classified as a destroyer, a creation designed to break fortress walls, kill monsters and other creations, and, when necessary, confront apostles, Divine Control bodies, or Hierophanies. This role differs from an annihilator such as Hillove, which specializes in killing numerous weaker mortals. Sratis’s deployments follow that distinction: it targets the Two-Headed Fiend, Neji, Ostro, Hegemonia, and an old god’s many-winged monster rather than serving as ordinary anti-infantry support. (Chapters 19, 61, 138–152, 251, and 297)

Regeneration, recall, and endurance

Sung-Woon can recall Sratis into a frozen state, summon it again, and maintain it with less Faith than direct Divine Control. Night Sky’s power can rapidly regenerate Sratis’s severed limbs, and Sratis treats pain as information rather than a reason to stop fighting. Regeneration is not instantaneous invulnerability: it loses limbs, can be critically wounded, and must still survive long enough for restoration or recall. Its intelligence also lets it remain concealed, detect intruders, and guard Sung-Woon without awaiting a fresh command. (Chapters 20, 61–62, 141–142, and 297–303)
