Salusin Oh is Black Scale’s senior Administration Minister during the accession of Kyle Lak Orazen. He represents the established ministers and attempts to limit a young king through precedent, succession anxiety, and control of palace procedure.

Biography

The minister outplayed by Kyle

Salusin has served since the King of Serenity and expects decades of administrative experience to balance Kyle’s formal authority. He presses for Vasen’s removal as a potential rebel figurehead, questions the appointment of a formerly enslaved Dwarf as Technology Minister, and reads the disagreement over eclipse timing as a political contest. Confident that the scholars’ shared calculation must be safer than Kyle’s solitary one, Salusin forces Shune’s ceremony to the earlier time and prepares to expose the king’s error. The eclipse does not occur. Kyle reveals that Rumf corrected outdated astronomy, dismisses the responsible officials, and exiles Salusin to a hamlet. The punishment frightens the remaining nobles and turns Salusin’s sophisticated attempt at restraint into proof that inherited confidence cannot substitute for current knowledge. (Chapters 82–87)
