Leonar is an Elf merchant who becomes chief and priest of the Green Eye Tribe after its earlier leadership brings disaster. His commercial experience helps the weakened Elves accept cooperation with Automation and incorporation into Black Scale.

Biography

Merchant turned chief

Leonar first leads an Elf merchant group and negotiates sharply with Hwee-Kyung, using practiced charm until the safety of valuable goods is threatened. Later, after the Green Eye Tribe’s attack on Humans leaves the Elves in a desperate position, Eldar chooses Leonar as chief and priest and sends a revelation that precious help is coming from the south. Leonar remembers the former chief’s ruinous decision and chooses to trust the message. Hwee-Kyung’s trade delegation then offers the labor-starved tribe a workable relationship rather than conquest. When Lakrak organizes distant territories, Leonar reluctantly accepts the title of maripgan, preserving local leadership while bringing the Green Eye settlement into Black Scale’s feudal order. Appearance and personality

Leonar is an Elf whose mouth naturally appears slightly smiling, making intentions difficult for Hwee-Kyung to read. The corpus provides no further physical or clothing detail. (Chapter 42)
