Juran
Juran is a horned Human Wizard, Mazdari’s student, and a descendant of Hwee-Kyung who joins the mission to recover his persecuted ancestor from the western continent.
Biography
The student who enters the labor camp
Juran travels with Ramin Solost Muel and Gorgota Falu because communications fail and someone must decide whether to enter the Rubeil labor camp without guidance. He accepts a laborer’s disguise, allows himself to be captured, and follows the imprisoned workers underground despite knowing the cover cannot last. When a Fang agent blocks the search, Juran channels a local electric spirit through his antlers to disable the agent long enough for Ramin to kill them, letting the group continue toward Hwee-Kyung. (Chapters 188–193)
The rescue also resolves a burden Juran carries as a descendant of Hwee-Kyung and her second husband, Gyo Joong. Their family had been persecuted for generations, but in the Pantheon both ancestors acknowledge him and thank the rescuers. Juran answers Ramin’s discomfort with a simple moral distinction: past sins remain sins, while their present rescue still deserves gratitude. He returns from that encounter with his lineage recognized rather than defined only by inherited punishment. (Chapters 198–200)
Appearance and personality
Juran is a Human man with antlers inherited through Hwee-Kyung’s bloodline. The antlers resemble those of his ancestor and also serve as a point through which he senses or channels a spirit. He is scholarly, observant, and capable of quiet humor, but his willingness to enter the labor camp and intervene when Hwee-Kyung is abused shows that study does not make him passive. (Chapters 181–193)
Powers and abilities
As Mazdari’s Wizard student, Juran understands spirits, magical theory, and field decision-making. His clearest demonstrated spell draws on an electric spirit near his antlers and produces a current strong enough to disable a person momentarily; Ramin must deliver the decisive physical attack. The scene establishes neither long range nor lethal voltage, and Juran’s team still relies on disguises, firearms, and allies, so his magic should not be treated as an unlimited combat solution. (Chapters 182–193)
