Jerome
Jerome is a player-scholar who researches ancient relics during the Loom crisis and later becomes the Constellation of Books. He leads one of the Pantheon’s informal social groups and is associated with the Grand Library in the Hall of Myriad Stars.
Biography
Researcher of the second moon
When Ion’s work brings the second moon into public focus, Jerome notes that the possibility was already known and searches the Pantheon library for ancient relics that might explain or counter it. He repeatedly reviews the evidence during the enforced rest period and produces a movement estimate, but Loom begins almost a year earlier than his predicted timeline. Jerome remains part of the group interpreting Avartin’s resemblance to Earthly myths and argues that apparently competing realities may both be real. After the new system is established, he chooses Books as his Domain and develops the Grand Library, turning a fallible research role into a continuing institutional vocation. (Chapters 266–329)
Appearance and personality
Jerome resembles an old man assembled from books: hardcovers form his forehead, bindings form his nose and mustache, and white pages hang like hair and beard. (Chapter 266)
He is studious, patient, and comfortable with ambiguous answers. His missed timeline shows that diligence does not eliminate uncertainty, while his later dispute with Hegemonia shows a willingness to defend shared spaces from disruptive behavior. (Chapters 267–329)
Powers and abilities
Jerome researches ancient records, evaluates hypotheses, and later governs the Domain of Books. The corpus does not demonstrate a named combat technique or specify what control over Books permits. His prediction of Loom’s movement is approximate and proves overly optimistic. (Chapters 267–316)
