Xerxes

Xerxes is the first system ever created, remembered by later forces as the Hero of the Forgotten Age. His soul is unjustly trapped in the Chalice of the Abandoned until the Reaving Dread and the Midnight Inn complete a rescue spanning ages, after which the damaged system receives a new host and begins again with most of his memories sealed. Biography

The rescue from Abaddon

The Condottiere sends successive armies into Abaddon to recover Xerxes, and only the Reaving Dread survives long enough for Lex's joint quest to support them. Xerxes himself remains confined inside a chalice containing condemned souls, so the rescuers must resist its overwhelming allure before reaching him. Their success corrects a karmic injustice and releases a figure whose absence had distorted the universe's future. (Chapters 1559–1561, 1733–1744)

The aftermath reinterprets the supposed ancient hero. Other systems greet Xerxes as the first of their kind, explain that he was made by the creator, and prepare to amalgamate his damaged consciousness into a fresh system. He remembers little beyond exhaustion, and corruption scans cannot restore his inaccessible database. Once cleared, he becomes the broken Lemonade Stand System of the newborn host Julias, beginning a new journey without recovering the truth of the Forgotten Age. (Chapters 1744, 2045)

Appearance and personality

Xerxes is a sentient system rather than a consistently embodied person, so the narrative provides no stable physical appearance. Immediately after rescue he speaks only in a whisper, closes his eyes, and asks to rest, conveying profound fatigue rather than heroic triumph. His later system voice is functional but damaged, repeatedly failing to generate a sensible designation for its new host. (Chapters 1744, 2045)

Abilities and cultivation

As the first system, Xerxes can be scanned, packaged, assigned to a host, and operate through system prompts rather than cultivation. His original database and capabilities are largely sealed or broken, making the extent of his former power unknown. The latest implementation successfully assimilates Julias and launches, but naming errors immediately demonstrate lasting damage; the system network expects higher levels may unlock memories, not that restoration is guaranteed.
