Sparkles

Tiny-Sparkles is the miniature unicorn first mate of the Jolly Rancher. Stronger than every crewmate except Jack, he supplies practical judgment, ship control, and devastating rainbow magic while trying—usually unsuccessfully—to limit the crew's chaos. Biography

First mate of the Jolly Rancher

Sparkles enters the crew as a unicorn only inches tall but powerful enough to bypass normal seniority and become Jack's first mate. He follows theatrical orders such as opening unnecessary sails while correcting their logic, and he becomes the practical counterweight to Jack's improvisation and Bob's escalating chaos. When the crew's mistakes enlarge the Jolly Rancher and destabilize a floating island, Sparkles uses cannon control, rainbow transformations, and repeated warnings to keep an already absurd fight from becoming worse. That role develops into navigation, tactical support, and responsibility for the captain. Sparkles helps plan routes through the Folklore realm, destroys undead ships with focused rainbow beams, channels light through the Jolly Rancher's sails, and protects Jack when meditation removes him from battle. He later joins the crew's treasure-raiding campaign with barrage-like rainbow attacks. When Jack finally leaves on a personal mission, he grants Sparkles acting-captain authority, and Sparkles answers by committing the crew to confront the plague afflicting the fairies. Appearance and personality

Sparkles is a white unicorn affected by extreme dwarfism, standing only a few inches tall. His low, reverberating voice is comically disproportionate to his body, and his horn produces visible rainbow magic. He is practical, dutiful, and more risk-aware than Jack, but remains loyal enough to follow dangerous plans once objections fail and brave enough to take command when the captain departs. Mutated unicorn power

Sparkles's dwarfism coincides with a mutation that makes him stronger than nearly every other unicorn Jack has encountered. His unrestrained voice can shatter ground, trigger earthquakes, and even provoke a Chaos Tribulation; Jack therefore maintains a weakening enchantment that gives him usable control. If the enchantment wears off, ordinary speech becomes an environmental hazard, making restraint a necessary operating limit rather than a lack of power. (Chapter 1379)

Rainbow magic and ship operations

His horn fires concentrated rainbow beams that can burn through undead ships, strike like bazookas, lift Jack safely, transform magic into objects, and refract gathered light into the Jolly Rancher's sails. He also controls the ship's artillery and performs first-mate navigation. These powers are precise when he is calm, but agitation amplifies his voice and can damage the vessel or terrain around him.
