Bichen

Bichen is Lan WangJi's spiritual sword. Its blue glare, exceptional weight, and precise response to its wielder make it one of the most recognizable weapons in the cultivation world.

History

Night-hunts and investigation

Bichen first interrupts Jin Ling's attack at Dafan Mountain, where the difference between Lan WangJi's strength and the junior's is immediately apparent. In the Cloud Recesses flashback, Lan WangJi uses it against water ghouls and the waterborne abyss; after the QishanWen Sect confiscates the disciples' swords, it is recovered during the Sunshot Campaign. (Chapters 7, 16–17, 61)

Across the severed-body investigation, Bichen cuts through walls, attacks fierce corpses, and repeatedly protects Wei WuXian and the juniors. In Yi City's fog, Lan WangJi follows A-Qing's bamboo-pole signals with Bichen, wounds Xue Yang, and severs his arm. (Chapters 22, 33–42)

Burial Mound and Guanyin Temple

Even after the gathered cultivators lose their spiritual power at Burial Mound, Lan WangJi continues to wield Bichen in defense of the Demon-Slaughtering Cave. At Guanyin Temple, the sword restrains Su She and strikes toward Nie MingJue during the final struggle. (Chapters 79–84, 106–109)

Abilities and properties

• Bichen can unsheathe and fly at Lan WangJi's command, delivering sword glare at range. (Chapters 7, 17, 22)
• Although it appears light, it is too heavy for an average person to wield. (Chapter 7)
• Its attacks are associated with blue light and strong cold imagery. (Chapters 7, 12)
• The blade is effective against water ghouls, walking corpses, spiritual barriers, and armed cultivators. (Chapters 16–17, 38–42)
