Wen ZhuLiu

Wen ZhuLiu, known as the Core-Melting Hand, is a powerful QishanWen cultivator assigned to protect Wen Chao. His ability to destroy golden cores makes him one of the most feared agents in the attack on Lotus Pier.

Biography

Wen Chao's protector

Wen ZhuLiu accompanies Wen Chao during the Qishan indoctrination and the expedition into the cave of the Xuanwu of Slaughter. He remains controlled and watchful where Wen Chao is boastful, intervening only when his charge requires protection. (Chapters 51–53)

Fall of Lotus Pier

When Wang LingJiao's provocation turns into open fighting at Lotus Pier, Wen ZhuLiu enters the hall and confronts Yu ZiYuan. He catches Zidian at lethal strength and helps the Wen forces overcome the Jiang defenders. Jiang Cheng is later left without a golden core, and the corpus identifies Wen ZhuLiu's Core-Melting Hand as the cause. (Chapters 58–60)

Final defense of Wen Chao

After the Wen position collapses, Wen ZhuLiu carries the mutilated Wen Chao toward Qishan, provides medicine and food, and refuses offers of promotion as unnecessary. When Wei WuXian finds them, Wen ZhuLiu states that he must repay the Wen Clan's generosity even at the cost of his life. He is restrained by Jiang Cheng's Zidian and killed after his defense fails. Appearance and personality

Wen ZhuLiu is tall, grave, and dressed in black. He speaks little, remains emotionally restrained, and displays loyalty even while acknowledging that he may only die trying to protect Wen Chao. (Chapters 51, 58, 62)

Abilities and cultivation

Wen ZhuLiu is a high-level cultivator and bodyguard whose Core-Melting Hand makes him strategically valuable to QishanWen. He combines the specialized palm technique with enough strength, perception, and close-combat control to protect Wen Chao from opponents who would otherwise kill him quickly.

Core-Melting Hand

His palm technique destroys or dissolves a cultivator's golden core, causing the spiritual power accumulated through years of cultivation to disperse. The victim cannot simply resume training and form another core through ordinary means. This makes the attack more than a battlefield injury: it removes status, mobility, self-defense, and the foundation of a cultivator's identity. (Chapters 58 and 60)

The technique requires Wen ZhuLiu to reach and strike the target; it is not a distant curse. Strong opponents, coordinated attacks, or restraints can prevent the contact, and the later golden-core transfer is an extraordinary surgical exception rather than a reversal Wen ZhuLiu's victims can normally obtain. Jiang Cheng's case demonstrates both the technique's effectiveness and the extreme measures needed to compensate for it. (Chapters 60 and 89)

Physical strength and defensive combat

Wen ZhuLiu can catch Zidian while Yu ZiYuan drives the lightning whip at lethal force, resist her control, and fight senior sect cultivators at close range. He reads threats rapidly and positions himself between Wen Chao and attackers, serving as shield, counterattacker, and executioner. Other capable cultivators avoid careless engagement because a single opening risks permanent core destruction. (Chapters 51–53, 58, and 62)

His loyalty is the principal tactical constraint. He acknowledges debts and appears to understand Wen Chao's cruelty, yet continues protecting him. That obligation forces Wen ZhuLiu to remain in a losing confrontation rather than escape independently. Wei WuXian and Jiang Cheng ultimately defeat the arrangement by isolating the protector, exhausting his options, and attacking with methods outside ordinary sword cultivation. (Chapters 61–62)
