Qin Su

Qin Su is the daughter of the LaolingQin Sect's household and the wife of Jin GuangYao, whose concealed parentage turns their celebrated marriage into a private catastrophe.

Biography

Courtship and Koi Tower

Qin Su was born to the LaolingQin Sect, a subsidiary of LanlingJin. After Jin GuangYao saved her during the Sunshot Campaign, she insisted on marrying him despite the social difference created by his mother's status. Their marriage was publicly regarded as affectionate and mutually respectful, and Qin Su became mistress of Koi Tower. (Chapter 47)

Revelation in the treasure room

Qin Su received a letter revealing that Jin GuangShan had assaulted her mother and was therefore her biological father, making Jin GuangYao her half-brother. She confronted her husband in the Fragrant Palace and learned that he had known before their marriage. When Lan XiChen and Wei WuXian entered the secret treasure room, Qin Su took her own life with a dagger. (Chapters 47 and 50)

Later testimony confirmed the concealed parentage. Jin GuangYao stated that their son had been conceived before the marriage and that he did not touch Qin Su again afterward. (Chapters 86 and 106)

Appearance and personality

Qin Su has graceful features that retain a childlike innocence. The corpus presents her as devoted in pursuing her marriage and deeply shocked, pale, and distraught after learning the truth of her birth. (Chapters 47 and 50)

Abilities and cultivation

Qin Su belongs to LaolingQin and later becomes Madam of Koi Tower, but the corpus does not establish a named weapon, technique, or combat accomplishment. Her consequential abilities are social: she acts within a politically arranged cultivation household, confronts private evidence, and attempts to force an answer from Jin GuangYao.

Cultivation and social position

As the daughter of a cultivation leader, Qin Su has the education and status expected of a clan member. The narrative does not show her using that background in battle, so it would be inaccurate to infer advanced sword or musical cultivation. Her marriage gives her authority within Koi Tower while also enclosing her within the reputation Jin GuangYao controls.

Confronting concealed evidence

When a letter reveals that Jin GuangYao is her half-brother and connects him to other crimes, Qin Su does not passively accept his reassurance. She questions him, attempts to reach the truth behind their marriage and son's death, and reacts against being turned into another managed secret. Jin GuangYao's superior preparation and control of the room prevent her from converting knowledge into escape or public testimony. (Chapters 47–50)
