Veda
Veda is a Blue Dragon Seeker sent to investigate the rare skills spreading through the New Home Merchant Clan, whose mission turns into an extended study of the Darklight Host's runecrafting, created skills, and recovered histories.
Biography
A rare-skill investigation becomes an open-ended residency
Veda arrives under orders from the Blue Dragon to determine why the New Home Merchant Clan has acquired rare skills absent from the Dragon Libraries. Karl's [Ancient Runeforging] gives her an obvious starting point, but he redirects credit toward the dozens of Runecrafters and Divine Runesmiths whose creativity turns shared knowledge into new work. Rather than conduct a brief interview and leave, Veda decides to take a room near the Guild House so she can study without commuting through a portal each day. The choice transforms a fact-finding mission into embedded observation of a living craft network. (Chapter 1877)
Her questioning reveals both disciplined skepticism and the limits of outside assumptions. Veda examines permanent Priestess constructs, the Guild House's self-sustaining magic, Karl's ability to train crafters, and the mismatch between his friendly explanations and the divine concern surrounding him. She is willing to laugh at Green Dragon priorities, but recognizes how a healing priestess bonded to a Spirit Bear and Divine Lightning Dragon could become a remarkable combatant. Her investigation therefore develops from cataloguing named skills into understanding how the Darklight Host combines strange people, affinities, and institutions. (Chapters 1877–1879)
Recruitment and foreign history widen the Seeker's mission
Veda remains present while Cara recruits Amie through an expensive skill-book loan. Karl suggests that Veda might subsidize custom elemental skills because new knowledge is her central interest, and she questions him repeatedly about skill creation. She does not receive a demonstrated new skill herself, but observes how the Guild turns one tailored ability into a stronger healer and a possible early-Spirit team. The scene shows her role as researcher and potential patron rather than another of Karl's immediate students. (Chapters 1879–1884)
When a displaced Elven pocket world collides with the Guild Village, Veda joins Karl and Cara to gather its history. Her delight in unknown lore turns to horror when truth-bound conversation reveals that the society assigns jobs by birth and treats most residents as inherited slaves. Veda helps interpret the threat of betraying an Avatar and supports recording testimony for the Blue Dragon history repository. Cara eventually relocates the pocket world and portals Veda back to the Guild House, ending the excursion but leaving her investigation enriched by a history the libraries did not possess. (Chapters 1887–1891)
Appearance and personality
Veda is a female Blue Dragon who spends the documented period in a humanoid or otherwise conversational draconic form. The narration mentions her draconic face and eyes flashing with bright blue Holy light, but gives no reliable hair, clothing, height, or full dragon-form description. Her Seeker identity is more visually explicit than her body: Karl reads the title from her information, and others consistently recognize her as a Blue Dragon representative. (Chapters 1877 and 1889)
She is inquisitive, skeptical, dryly humorous, and morally unsettled by exploitation. Veda asks direct questions, rolls her eyes at evasions, laughs at absurd but coherent explanations, and readily prolongs a mission when more knowledge becomes available. Her interest is not emotionally neutral; the slave-world revelation visibly horrifies her, while the death of a data-gatherer concerns her partly because unique knowledge would vanish with them. (Chapters 1877–1879 and 1888–1890)
Abilities and class
Veda is a Seeker of the Blue Dragon, described as a mission specialist sent to investigate matters important to the deity and its libraries. The corpus does not state her exact Immortal stage, formal combat class tree, trade skill, or advancement history. Her demonstrated strengths are investigation, System inspection, draconic religious knowledge, and interworld travel. (Chapters 1877–1891)
Seeker investigation and System reading
Veda can inspect enough System information to identify Karl's [Ancient Runeforging] trade skill and reads the nature of several unusual people and arrangements through questions and observation. Her eyes flash with Blue Dragon Holy power when she focuses on Karl's claim about a secret Avatar technique, but the source does not name the effect or show it forcing truth. In the Elven domain she relies on the local truth barrier and testimony rather than a personal lie-detection power. (Chapters 1877 and 1887–1889)
Her professional knowledge covers Dragon Clerics, Avatars, resurrection risks, skill rarity, libraries, and the strategic consequences of lost research. This expertise lets her explain why killing Karl would not end the threat and why Blue Dragon factions value preserving field notes. It does not grant omniscience: Karl's Guild arrangements repeatedly surprise her, and she must remain on site to discover how the new skills actually spread. (Chapters 1877–1879 and 1888)
Interest in created skills and interworld travel
Veda treats new skills as objects of study and possible investment, but no scene shows her learning, writing, or casting one of Karl's creations. Her latest access is observational: she watches customized transformations, questions [Skill Merger], and seeks the process behind Ancient Runeforging. Claims that she becomes a Runecrafter or formal Darklight Host member would therefore exceed the evidence. (Chapters 1877, 1880, and 1884)
She can commute by portal and accompanies the group through pocket dimensions and the Chaos Plane, but the documented return portal is opened by Cara. The journey demonstrates her willingness and resilience as a field Seeker, not a personal portal skill. By Chapter 1891 she is back at the Guild House with her mission still active and no stated rank or class change. (Chapters 1877 and 1887–1891)
Relationships
- Karl: Veda's principal research subject and guide to the Darklight Host's craft network. She challenges his evasions while accepting that his collaborators matter as much as his unique skills. (Chapters 1877–1884)
- Cara: A source of both evidence and risk. Cara exposes Veda to recruitment, Chaos travel, and the relocation of an entire pocket world, then returns her safely to the Guild House. (Chapters 1878–1891)
- Opal: An indirect collaborator whose demand for Elven performers shapes the pocket-world intervention. Veda witnesses how the Guild converts the discovery into preserved stories and new residents. (Chapters 1890–1891)
- Amie: A newly recruited druid whose tailored transformation gives Veda a live case study in Karl and Cara's skill economy. (Chapters 1878–1880)
- Blue Dragon: Veda's divine patron and the authority behind her investigation. Her obligation is to identify and preserve knowledge missing from the Dragon Libraries. (Chapter 1877)
