Advancement and national oversight

Drake arrives with Prince Axel to assess Karl, gives him skill books, and encourages techniques that let Karl and Hawk fight above their rank. By pairing material support with scrutiny of the bond's unusual potential, he helps convert an exceptional but inexperienced student into a nationally supervised asset. (Chapters 55–63)

Drake's own rise came from a resource that forced him from Royal past Monarch to Overlord. The gain made him a strong Overlord but inflicted internal damage that permanently slowed later growth; he subsequently serves as an officer who corrects bad intelligence and questions returning teams rather than chasing another reckless breakthrough.
