Jerome

Jerome is a Mythic-ranked Dragonkin Battle Master whose attempt to claim Darklight Host crafters provokes a formal guild challenge against Karl. His confidence in rank-based damage reduction turns the duel into a near-fatal defeat, costing him a dungeon claim and later his position as Guild Leader.

Biography

A coercive guild challenge destroys his authority

Jerome demands ownership of Karl and other Darklight Host members, then refuses a negotiated resolution even after his king warns that their guild includes a Supreme-ranked Chaos Dragon. He accepts a duel believing a Mythic warrior can ignore Totem-ranked summons and force the defeated crafters to work for him. Karl's summons, barriers, anti-healing wounds, and repeated elemental attacks overturn that calculation. Jerome keeps escalating with emergency buffs until Heroic Intervention expires and he collapses, whereupon the king stops the fight to preserve his damaged soul. The loss transfers the proceeds of Jerome's dungeon claim and exposes his attempt to conscript valuable specialists to his own guild. (Chapters 1057–1059)

The duel becomes a widely replayed humiliation, but Jerome's latest appearance shows some adjustment rather than another attack. After his guild strips him of leadership, he publicly confirms that Karl defeated him above rank and warns other challengers that the “Monster Man” is a genuine threat. He remains associated with the Sholaha Dominators, but his authority and certainty have been replaced by first-hand respect for an opponent he once dismissed as a crafter. (Chapters 1081, 1117, and 1295)

Appearance and personality

Jerome is a male Dragonkin warrior who fights in heavy Mythril armor and a guild tabard. Karl's claws tear away his chest plate during the duel, but no reliable scale color, height, facial features, or later clothing is given. (Chapters 1057–1058)

He is arrogant, coercive, and extremely persistent in combat. He underestimates summons below his rank, threatens repeated torture, and continues after severe burns and blood loss. After losing his position, he can at least state Karl's strength openly instead of disguising the defeat. (Chapters 1057–1059 and 1295)

Abilities and class

Jerome is a Mythic Battle Master with strong physical buffs and rank-based damage reduction. He uses barrages of [Slash], a defensive shield, and close-range sword attacks powerful enough to shatter Karl's stone barriers and leave scars through layered damage reduction. His armor and defenses let him survive multiple summons and direct World Dragon Avatar strikes, but they do not prevent accumulated blood loss, soul damage, or anti-healing effects. (Chapters 1057–1059)

[Heroic Regeneration] rapidly repairs burns, while [Heroic Intervention] temporarily boosts Jerome's power and skills in an emergency. [Rip and Tear] is an area Rend attack strong enough to force Karl back. These abilities have linked limits: Hemotoxic Strikes stop the physical claw wounds from closing, healing potions can be intercepted, and Heroic Intervention ends with a severe crash that leaves Jerome unconscious. His latest state shows no new rank or technique after recovery. (Chapter 1058)

Relationships

  • Karl: Jerome tries to claim Karl as guild labor, loses their formal duel, and later acknowledges publicly that Karl's strength is real. (Chapters 1057–1059 and 1295)
  • Haint: Haint repeatedly restrains and damages Jerome, and her Soul Link leaves his soul injured enough that the king fears resurrection would become impossible if the duel continues. (Chapters 1057–1058)
  • Supreme Lady Matilda: Jerome does not fight Matilda directly, but his king invokes her Supreme rank to explain why challenging her guild could endanger an entire nation. (Chapter 1057)

Items

Jerome has no scoped catalog item. He uses a Mythril weapon, heavy armor, healing potions, and a guild tabard, but none receives a stable item name or approved page. (Chapters 1057–1058)
