Hassan

Hassan Petros is a Totem-ranked Dwarven Master Smith from Zindab, formerly of Bara, who joins the Darklight Host's Drodh branch. Already an accomplished smith and researcher, he accepts Dwarven Runeforging and an elemental specialty forge in exchange for bringing his experience into the guild's shared workshop.

Biography

An independent master chooses a guild for access and craft

Hassan arrives with a loose research collective rather than a formal guild, which lets him consider Karl's offer without an organization taking part of his income. He initially treats forge placement as the most important practical question and prefers a secluded workspace where apprentices will not cross his door. When Karl offers full Darklight Host membership, access to shared storage and the chance to work without hauling raw materials persuade the elderly smith to accept. Karl then transfers Dwarven Runeforging and builds him a Totem-ranked lava forge tuned to earth and ghostfire, giving Hassan a facility matched to the masterpieces he wants to pursue. (Chapters 1131–1133)

Hassan immediately tests the forge with Mythril rather than celebrating abstractly, confirming that the setup softens high-grade metal as intended. He later welcomes incoming sculptors, helps settle the smiths into housing, and remains the Drodh branch's recognized master. The latest evidence identifies him as the maker of a costly Mythril-alloy sceptre that Karl selects for further runic work, showing that the recruitment produces finished high-rank components rather than leaving Hassan isolated in private research. (Chapters 1133–1136 and 1287)

Appearance and personality

Hassan is an elderly, prematurely balding Dwarf who smokes a carved stone pipe. He has a beard and enough concern about his hairline to resent the System's description of it, though Karl offers the guild's hair-growth products. (Chapters 1131–1133)

He is independent, craft-focused, sociable over ale, and quick to lose himself in work. He prefers quiet forge placement, rejects an elemental style that does not suit him, and starts hammering Mythril before Karl has finished explaining the new skill's possibilities. (Chapters 1131–1133)

Abilities and class

Hassan is a Totem-ranked Master Smith specializing in Earth Magic. His preferred forge uses superheated stone and deep-earth elements to work materials at Totem rank. The elemental tuning can add useful properties to appropriate products, but it also narrows what the forge can make effectively; unlike a neutral fire, a heavily specialized forge suits only certain armor and weapon designs. (Chapters 1132–1133)

Karl transfers [Dwarven Runeforging] after Hassan joins the guild. The skill integrates runes with the smithing process rather than replacing metalworking expertise, and Hassan tests it in a forge also carrying Ghostfire and Earth Manipulation inscriptions. The later sceptre confirms continued high-grade output, but its final Mana Pylon runes are Karl's work, so it should not be treated as proof that Hassan independently mastered every effect on the finished object. (Chapters 1133 and 1287)

Relationships

  • Karl: Karl recruits Hassan, transfers Dwarven Runeforging, and customizes his forge. Hassan later supplies expensive smithwork for Karl's runic projects. (Chapters 1131–1133 and 1287)
  • Ashbringer: Ashbringer arbitrates forge placement and advises Hassan about the possibilities of elemental forge fire, treating the older Totem as the senior incoming smith. (Chapter 1132)
  • Sapphire: Sapphire helps organize the expanded crafting space where Hassan and the other Dwarves settle, linking smithing to the branch's wider research operation. (Chapters 1132–1133)

Items

Hassan has no scoped catalog item. His carved stone pipe is a personal possession, while the customized lava forge belongs to his guild workspace and the Mythril-alloy sceptre is a paid component later used by Karl. (Chapters 1133 and 1287)
