Gareth meets Karl as a dragon librarian and demands a complete account of the group's unusual dungeon experience, reflecting the Blue Dragons' appetite for useful information. He then studies candidates affected by a relic, observing successful mage awakenings and distinguishing an ordinary enhancement potion from the much stronger transformation that Karl or Remi produced afterward.
