Burt
Burt is Swag's best friend and the crowd-control specialist in his newly Immortal core team. His brief dungeon appearance is defined less by named spells than by risk assessment: he repeatedly identifies dangers that his enthusiastic leader and Cara would rather treat as entertainment.
Biography
A cautious controller keeps an experimental run grounded
Burt joins Karl's party when Swag brings his core team for a dungeon run. Before accepting the composition, Burt checks whether another healer is needed, treating control as one part of a balanced group rather than a substitute for recovery. Once Karl's presence changes the dungeon's standardized strength to a rank above Burt's development, he immediately recognizes that even ordinary enemies now outclass him. He continues instead of withdrawing, but questions Karl's experience with the bosses and challenges Swag's assumption that a successful calculation guarantees safety. (Chapters 1585–1593)
After the group survives Oathbreaker, Burt asks why the boss remembers prior encounters and accepts Karl's explanation that the species may share memories. He then opposes Cara's proposal to gather every remaining enemy, correctly reading it as an attempt to create chaos rather than ordinary optimization. Burt's latest state is therefore active and successful, with his skepticism functioning as the team's internal check even when it cannot stop every dangerous experiment. (Chapter 1594)
Appearance and personality
The corpus provides no reliable species, hair, eye, height, clothing, or weapon description for Burt. He gives off the aura of a newly Ascended Immortal with the rest of his group. (Chapters 1585 and 1588)
He is cautious, analytical, and blunt with Swag. Burt can appreciate a successful run without pretending its risks were reasonable, and he asks about unfamiliar boss memory rather than treating it as harmless dungeon flavor. (Chapters 1587–1594)
Abilities and class
Burt is a crowd-control specialist, but the corpus does not identify his class or name a single skill. His team expects him to limit enemy movement or actions while mages deal damage, yet no scene isolates one of his effects from Karl's summons and group-wide buffs. (Chapter 1585)
He is newly Ascended Immortal during the run. The dungeon standardizes enemy strength above his development, making base monsters individually stronger than him; survival therefore depends on team composition, Karl's buffs, and coordinated damage rather than proof that Burt can control stronger groups alone. No later skill or rank progression is shown. (Chapters 1587–1594)
Relationships
- Swag: Burt is Swag's best friend and tactical counterweight, repeatedly challenging the Berserker's enthusiasm when the dungeon becomes abnormal. (Chapters 1585–1594)
- Karl: Karl's presence raises the dungeon's standard and supplies buffs that make the run possible, while Burt questions his familiarity with each threat. (Chapters 1587–1594)
- Cara: Burt recognizes that Cara's “logical” plan is designed to provoke chaos and does not confuse her appetite for novelty with safe strategy. (Chapter 1594)
Items
Burt has no scoped catalog item. The corpus does not name his equipment, weapon, armor, or dungeon reward.
