Naia is Elvenheim's famously sleepy high-elf sage, whose knowledge of ancient records and ability to perceive another being's “star” make her a critical adviser during supernatural crises.

Biography

Elvenheim, Kargas, and the Pirate Archipelago

Naia breaks her habitual drowsiness when she recognizes Laevateinn from an old myth and warns Ellaim away from a lethal eruption before it occurs. Because Elvenheim's survival depends on accurate information, she asks Theodore Miller to repeat his claims through Ratatoskr, where lies cannot pass, despite Ellenoa's objection. Her caution validates Theodore's intelligence and lets the council build its response on evidence rather than affection. (Chapters 106–107 and 113–114)

Jerem's Return and the Great Forest

Naia reconnects with Theodore through Ratatoskr and becomes the council's principal interpreter of Heathcliff's prophecy, identifying Hraesvelgr from the clan's records. After the battle, she rapidly follows Theodore's plan for restoring the weakened world tree, recognizing the proposed cycle between spirits, forest vitality, and Yggdrasil before most of the other high elves. Marriage, Armageddon, and the New World

Naia perceives that Theodore has crossed the mortal boundary and, more troublingly, that he is preparing to die. She describes her clan's sight as reading a person's “star”—an uncertain mixture of vessel, destiny, and soul—and glimpses a red star before Theodore closes himself to her. When warned, she agrees to forget the subject rather than force a confrontation. This makes her the only friend shown noticing his hidden Armageddon resolve before he departs, but she does not learn the details of Wrath. (Chapters 386–388)

Appearance and personality

Naia has untidy hair, half-hooded eyes, and dark circles that make her look perpetually sleep-deprived. She speaks slowly and often sleeps through ordinary meetings, yet becomes clear-voiced and intensely focused when genuine danger or a difficult question appears. Magic, abilities, and martial skills

Naia uses Ratatoskr for truthful communication and shared perception across the Great Forest. Her scholarship covers ancient elves, divine creatures, and world-tree ecology, allowing her to identify threats and infer workable restoration measures from limited information.
