Mujak
Mujak is Austen's sword-master guardian and the captain who leads an unauthorized mission into Meltor while seeking relief for his drought-stricken country. His fierce loyalty survives capture and defeat, eventually helping turn a failed infiltration into the restoration of Austen's river.
Biography
Eastern Legacies, Quattro, and the Soldun Civil War
Mujak brings Janissaries into Mana-vil to contact the high elf delegation and bargain for help, accepting that Austen's starvation leaves him no dignified alternative. When Theodore Miller's group catches them, he recognizes the operation has failed and orders his men not to prolong the fight. Before Kurt III, Mujak accepts responsibility without excuses and submits to a Geass-bound expedition to the Meuse Desert. There he guides the party, fights Lloyd Pollan, and materializes dozens of illusory swords through Mirage; Lloyd reads the real path, wounds him, and escapes, exposing Mujak's overconfidence in a technique that had never failed. Mujak's anger at learning that Desertio caused Austen's drought nearly provokes a dragon, but the encounter ultimately opens a solution. When Theodore proposes restoring the Pilar River through Aquilo's power, Mujak kneels in gratitude and accepts that Austen must negotiate the dragon's demanding conditions. His initial crime therefore ends in both punishment and the possibility of national recovery; later reused restraints and comparisons do not add a new personal action. (Chapters 201–205 and 227)
Jerem's Return and the Great Forest
Mujak is mentioned as Austen's surviving sword master when Theodore assesses possible reinforcements against the Four Horsemen. Theodore concludes that Mujak would be outmatched and could become another undead puppet, so he is not called into the Lairon campaign. The corpus gives no later death, promotion, or independent battle. (Chapter 311)
Appearance and personality
Mujak is an older, mustached swordsman whose aura has been trained for more than sixty years. He is proud, blunt, and deeply patriotic, but capable of cool tactical judgment: he orders retreat when his men want to keep fighting and admits fault after capture. Threats to Austen override his restraint, producing the furious outbursts directed at Desertio, while the prospect of saving the Pilar River moves him to open gratitude. (Chapters 187–205)
Magic, abilities, and martial skills
Mujak is a sword master with the Aura Ability Illusion. His secret technique, Mirage, creates dozens of false swords and fills selected images with aura so they become real attacks, overwhelming opponents who cannot identify the genuine blades. He can block powerful lightning, reinforce his body, and contend with another master. The ability is ineffective against enormous nonhuman defenses such as Mercurius and is directly countered by Pathfinder, which distinguishes reality from illusion; a deep abdominal wound also demonstrates that his master rank does not remove normal bodily limits. - Theodore Miller: Mujak begins as Theodore's captured intruder and unwilling guide. Theodore's expedition and later river proposal transform that hostility into a national debt, though the corpus does not show a close friendship. (Chapters 187–205)
