Magnus

Magnus is a senior demon subordinate to the fire demon king Fulito. Theodore Miller summons a temporary shell of him to fight Zest Speitem; the manifested body is not Magnus's full, locally resident self, and its destruction only ends the summoning.

Biography

Eastern Legacies, Quattro, and the Soldun Civil War

Theodore calls Magnus through a large summoning circle and a fire-dragon catalyst when Zest attacks him. Magnus courteously warns that the offering may not be sufficient to kill their opponent but agrees to do his best, shields Theodore, and overwhelms Zest with a greatsword, whip, and demonic fire. Because the body is only a summoned shell without normal vital organs, Zest's cuts do not kill it; instead, his space-cutting swordsmanship severs the summoning's knots. Before the connection collapses, Magnus wounds Zest, warns Theodore about dimensional instability, and disappears back to his original world. (Chapters 239–242)

East Continent and the Northern War

Later narration recalls Magnus as Theodore studies and reproduces powerful fire phenomena, but Magnus is not summoned again in this arc. Those uses belong to Theodore's own developing magic rather than to a continuing demonic manifestation. (Chapters 261, 272, 279, and 282)

Jerem's Return and the Great Forest

Magnus is mentioned as a point of comparison when Theodore considers the demons associated with Solomon and earlier summons. The corpus does not show Magnus acting, being hosted, or leaving a remnant in the Great Forest. The reference is historical context, not a renewed encounter. (Chapter 314)

Appearance and personality

Magnus's summoned shell is more than five meters tall, with a lion-like head, bat wings, flaming horns, black hide, and burning red eyes. Despite that threatening form, he speaks in a composed, almost gentlemanly manner and honestly states the limits of Theodore's offering. (Chapters 239–240)

Magic, abilities, and martial skills

Magnus controls intense demonic fire and fights with an enormous sword and whip. His sword radiates enough heat to liquefy the ground, while his whip drives storms of flame and controls space around the battlefield. The summoned shell has no functioning vital points and can continue after mutilation, but its existence depends on magical knots linking it to the summoner; severing those links forces its return regardless of bodily durability. (Chapters 239–242)

Relationships

  • Theodore Miller: Theodore supplies the ritual and offering that manifest Magnus. Magnus honors the summons, protects him, and gives a final warning before the link fails. (Chapters 239–242)
  • Zest Speitem: Magnus fights Zest at Theodore's request. Zest's spatial swordsmanship dismantles the summoning link, though Magnus seriously wounds him first. (Chapters 239–242)

Items

Magnus manifests with a giant sword and whip, but neither weapon is given a proper name or a planned item article. The fire-dragon material used in his summoning is a catalyst supplied by Theodore, not Magnus's personal possession. (Chapters 239–242)
